Boy, 4, found with beer, stolen gifts - wants to go to jail because that is where his dad is
Boy, 4, found with beer, stolen gifts

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn., Dec. 17 (UPI) -- Authorities in Tennessee said a 4-year-old boy apparently broke out of his home, obtained beer and broke into a neighbor's house to steal Christmas presents.

The Hamilton County Sheriff's Office said Hayden Wright, 4, was found wandering the streets of his Chattanooga neighborhood while wearing a little girl's dress and drinking a beer at 1:45 a.m. Tuesday, WTVC-TV, Chattanooga, reported Thursday.

Investigators said the boy, who was taken by police to a hospital to have his stomach pumped, apparently escaped his home by breaking a child-safety device on the doorknob.

"He runs away trying to find his father," said the boy's mother, April Wright, 21. "He wants to get in trouble so he can go to jail because that's where his daddy is."

5. I hate it when shit like this is filed under "odd news." No, it's symptom of how humanity can fall
apart.

11. I remember being a 4 year old and wanting to drink
beer like my dad and other relatives. It was the thing that the person I loved most in the whole world loved to do. Obviously they convinced me that root beer was my drink of choice (hey it still has beer in the name). I can't imagine any child wanting to drink the stuff without the desire to emulate.

I wonder how different it will be for my girls since I have never drank around them, and have probably had ten beers total since the oldest was born 14 years ago. Having alcoholics through at least my grandparents on both sides chills a desire to drink. Marrying into a family that never drinks even further supports that.

12. Pump his stomach?!
I hope the medical personnel at the hospital educated the stupid cops about the history of beer. Most good parents throughout history have given their 4-year-olds beer so they wouldn't get water borne diseases.

14. If the child was drinking a beer, wandering around at 1:00 AM in the morning in a dress..
Who knows what else he might have ingested? They did the right thing.
