8. ++ all is well again (even though we lost our video feed)
Yep, we lost our (anonymous) Windows Media video feed for MSNBC "live". Whoever maintained it decided to switch it to Telemundo. Since it was an Akamai feed, it may have actually been a decision by Akamai rather than by whoever initially set it up.

So, I had to scramble to find a replacement video stream and then try to figure out what was necessary to embed a different type (rtsp: // sdp) of video feed in our web page.

You can now see MSNBC "live" again without using Realplayer or VLC:

Edited to say that this should be under "jonnyblitz's" post above, re: the Real Player stream. Sorry I posted to the wrong subject.

Here's a direct link to the Real Player stream above. Plays w/ VLC Player or Real Alternative, for those who don't want to deal w/ Real Player.

Get VLC Player at http://videolan.org ... free, cross platform.

7. Another stream
I emailed Las Vegas Mixx and they get got the MSNBC stream from the same source as other sites who stream. They offered me this lower quality
mobile feed, that can be used in VLC also.

http://www.lasvegasmixx.com/msnbc/lofi.m3u (in the VLC player, not your browser) good to have as a backup. For now i am using this new one from this
thread.
