If Obama has chosen the path of the warpig, at least he could have fought for Single Payer as a condition or compromise.

Using war funding as a bargaining chip Obama could have forced Rethugs to give him HC support in return.

Spineless, gutless, puppetized.

2. it happens all the time
the dems cave and give the rethugs what they want, thinking that the rethugs will reciprocate. And for some reason they're STILL surprised when they don't.

They NEVER DO.

6. You mean, just like Clinton gave the Repugs NAFTA...
...and they reciprocated by killing his attempt at "universal healthcare?"

are occurring under Democratic Presidents.

NAFTA and free trade gutted the economy thanks to Clinton.
"Welfare Reform" decimated our social safety nets nation wide thanks to Clinton.
And now we're going to all by law become serfs of the insurance industry thanks to Obama.

Instead of undoing what the republicans have done, we get even more successful right wing wet dream projects. :(

13. True, and deeply depressing.
I had hoped Clinton was merely an exception (the best Republican President since Eisenhower), but it certainly appears that Obama wants to walk in his footsteps.

10. What in the world are you talking about?
President Obama made his decision on Afghanistan based on the facts on the ground, not to appease congressional Republicans.

12. That's certainly how it worked in the 1960's.
LBJ gave our oligarchs Vietnam. In exchange we got Medicare, Medicaid, Legal Aid, the Civil Rights Act of 1964, and the Voting Rights Act of 1965. Of course, Kennedy had to die for us to get any of that. In 1964 and 1965, LBJ had huge majorities in both the House and the Senate.

Still, your question is valid. What are we getting this time in exchange for prolonging the war in Afghanistan?

The way you put it, it's an evil deal.

18. We have to face the reality that Obama has committed us to war by Executive order.
I'm not saying we have to accept it but the reality is that America is now committed.

The only thing standing in the way of Afghan war funding, the war appropriations bill now sitting in the Senate.

You're correct, It is an evil deal.

But if we're committing to war as Obama has done, the least we can get out of the deal is a strong PO or Single Payer.

I'm a veteran. I'm as anti war as they come. I hate war with a fucking passion. Sadly, You and I have zero say in the matter. You and I can't stop war. I wish we could.

16. Neocons will never allow Obama to have a significant success. Plus if
a public option were to pass it would make Americans come together as a group and feel empathy in their pride for their excellent health care system. And we know how badly the neocons don't want Americans feeling empathy for anyone other than themselves.
