You appealed to our hopes, dreams and our desire for change AKA our VULNERABILITIES.
SHAME on you Obama for appealing to our vulnerabilities, then once elected you shunned the little people.

You appealed to our populist dreams, campaigned for EFCA, said NAFTA was a disgrace that needed reform, only to be elected and turn your back by whoring for corporate America and the military/industrial complex. You've become big pharma's greatest ally. Big Pharma is anti-people. So is your Presidency.

It's as if you were hypnotized once inaugurated.

AT least tell us Mr Prez...

Who the FUCK IS PULLING YOUR STRINGS?

Welcome to America.

7. At least your response isn't posting someone's post in an unrelated topic to smear someone
Edited on Thu Dec-17-09 09:50 PM by Zodiak
Oh wait!

This kind of sophistry is fine for a snicker and a high five with a couple pals, but it is immaterial, an ad hominem, and useless rhetorically.

8. What pretty nonsense - you 'ole cutey pie you!
1. "to smear someone" - I always love it when posting a link to a person's own words is somehow the equivalent of "smearing" them. It makes me chuckle, in the same way I chuckle when I hear someone say Benny Hinn laid hands on them and restored their gallbladder - it's an indicator the person in question is not to be taken all that seriously.

2. "it is immaterial" - Sez you. That's an opinion of yours, not a fact. I say it's very material.

3. "an ad hominem" - Go look up "ad hominem." It doesn't mean what you think it does - but it shooore sounds cool!

Here's an helpful link:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ad_hominem

4. "and useless rhetorically" - It sure riled your tender skin up, so it couldn't have been all that useless...

11. You should read your own links before you post them
It would save you looking foolish

From your link:

An ad hominem argument, also known as argumentum ad hominem (Latin: "argument toward the person" or "argument against the person") is an argument which links the validity of a premise to an irrelevant characteristic or belief of the person advocating the premise.

You are trying to make an argument against the poster of this thread based on who he/she believes is a hero. That is attacking the person and not the issue...the very definition of ad hominem.

So typical of sophists to act with a lot of huff and puff, but ultimately be proven wrong.
And boy do you huff and puff!

By the way, because it is an ad hominem attack as established by your own link, it is by definition immaterial and useless rhetorically. That is what logical fallacies are all about.

The smear I give you as debatable.

It would save you from looking, well, not foolish, exactly, but just ignorant.

Here's what the poster said in that 'ole link of mine:

"Lenin- One of my heroes."

Indeed, the facts show I praised said poster for not stooping to claiming Lenin - it could've been Franco, or Hitler, for that matter, they are all moral equivalents - as his "hero" in this thread to make his dreary point. Progress, I deemed it! Did your eyes tucker out at the point, or was it the 'ole grey matter giving out? If that's what you call "ad hominem," then there's not much I can do about the fact that you can't understand what you read very well.

"The smear I give you as debatable"

Uhhhhhh, how is it possible to "smear" someone by quoting their own words? A curious notion of the definition of the word "smear" you have.

"That is what logical fallacies are all about" - Lordy. Someone needs a good Logic 101 course. Or just a good common sense course....(*snickers*)...

Edit: Revised & extended remarks.

13. LOL...so you think that sarcasm masks your intentions?
I guess you also think your unnecessary snark masks your loss of this argument, as well.

The romper room tactics were fun and all, but now that it is clearly established you are not intellectually honest and cannot rise above the level of schoolyard bully, my job is done.

Ta.

And, of course, the plain laughable notion that someone has "won" an internet debate is ever priceless.

17. And how again was Lenin a mass-murderer? I think you're confusing him with Stalin.
I mean, Obama's a mass-murderer if you count Afghan civilians. It's all how you calculate the fighting. Perhaps the Czar, the Mensheviks who supported The Great Imperialist War and sent millions to their deaths, the White Brigades, perhaps they were mass-murderers too

You know who are mass-murderers? Those who defend insurance policies that kill thousands of Americans a year.

It's all how you count the bodies, really. More specifically, it's who counts. If you don't think working class deaths count, it's easy to cry "mass-murder" at those who want to stop such deaths by fighting those who cause the deaths.

20. Lenin led a populist uprising, a revolution of the people against a monarch.
Edited on Fri Dec-18-09 06:44 AM by Union Yes
That Monarch, Czar Nicholas II had led Russia into economic and military collapse. Leftover anger from the "Bloody Sunday" atrocity also fueled the revolutionary fire.

Lenin did not act alone. He led an uprising of millions. Revolutions are never blood free.

Stalin was the mass murderer.

Don't fault me because you've bought anti-communist propaganda that's been force fed us 'Murikans since we learned to walk.
