A Solution: Put up a good bill and let them vote on it |
|
Seriously, put together a good bill, one with a very strong public option, one with a Government run program that is comprehensive and offered at cost. Reimburse Doctors at reasonable rates and negotiate the price of everything with everyone. Let it be open to everyone, same rate for everyone - man, woman, child, young, old, healthy, infirmed - same price.
Then let them vote on it.
Let the people see who supports something that is obviously good for them and who does not.
Then let November 2010 come and it will be us who do the voting.

1. Yeah, why do they always have to take a vote before taking a vote? |
|
Why do they quake and cower at the threat of a filibuster? Let 'em filibuster! Let each member take responsibility for their vote or their filibustering. Then, if need be, change the bill and bring it up again. I know, I know, this would be too easy. It would take too much time (as if time is helping us any now). Yes, it's so much better to water it down into gruel and hope enough starved puppies lap it up. Dumb process. Really.
Gruel bad.

I'll never understand why the Dems haven't used this language against the cretins who stand in their way with the filibuster on every bill that hits the floor.

4. That is a solution where you end up with nothing and the public isn't going to punish Republicans. |
|
They would punish Democrats plus no one would have any additional insurance protections and the uninsured will still be uninsured. We are not going to have a stronger majority in Congress after 2010. It will almost certainly be weaker.
Obama would just be the eighth President who tried and failed to get health care reform.

People who have "insurance" die and go bankrupt all the time. The current bill is NOTHING, unless we are paying for CARE.

5. Turns out you can filibuster by proxy by insisting that the clerk read the whole thing aloud. |

they would not be able to hide and play the odds, check which way the wind is blowing. Need to get elected again, need to make sure they have enough votes.
