Olbernann's segment worse, worser and worst is a hoot for all of us with enough |
|
brain cells to ferret out truth from blatant propoganda...
But we should all be very frightened that everything reported on W,W or W and debunked by KO is repeated ad nausiem throughout the Right Wing echo machine to then take on a Truth of its' own...
People, this is what the Nazi's did, they kept repeating nasty rumors and innuendo that sure enough turned into rabid hatred for the people targeted by the rumor mongers...
The worse the economy goes, the more salient these us vs. them screeds resonant with a disaffected populous.
History has continued to underline the saying that it does repeat itself...
No one should ever think that it can't happen here.
Watching Rachel Maddow in her opening segment about a national net prayer meeting that is now proclaiming that Jesus, or god, is upset with the very idea of health care for all.
Remember, the Nazi's claimed to have god on their side even while the Fuhrer was an ardent believer in the occult.
Again, no one should ever think that it can't happen here...
The Rabid Right seems to be more willing to do anything, say anything and claim anything in order to gain and retain power...
Do you think these reckless purveyors of propaganda have what it takes to slow down the freight train once it goes hurling down the track toward fascism?
Don't bet your life on it...

1. I think the reckless purveyors want that train to keep on going... |

It'll help them get the power they crave.
It CAN happen here!

It can happen anywhere. It's what lynch mobs are made of.
When people are suffering and afraid, they're more susceptible to charismatic leaders promising them solutions to all of their problems; they're more inclined to look for scape goats to blame for their problems; they are more likely to dehumanize their perceived enemies.
Watching the Right Wing Tea Party Movement, I've often wondered how any thinking person can believe what they believe or do what they do. The answer is that they are not thinking rationally, they are reacting--they have no more self-determination than an individual member of a stampede or a shark in a feeding frenzy--they become pack animals.
The Right seems to have no end of charismatic leaders, or followers. I worry about the day Right Wing sheep turn into wolves.

Was it Goering who said, Just repeat it often enough . . . .?
Saw an ad this morning doing the same, a 'serious' ad claiming that the expense of the 'bill' will have to be paid for by 'our' progeny's progeny, etc.

4. It's like KO said earlier in his show last night. |

They spread the lies and misinformation on purpose, allow numerous news outlets to pick up on them as well as propagating them on their own media outlets, and then, if and when someone corrects the lies and misinformation, they report the "controversy" over the situation as a legitimate "news story."
It's a system. They plan it that way.
Fox News/Wingnut Talk Show Hosts: "Mr. X beats his wife." Other News Outlets: "Many sources are reporting that Mr. X beats his wife." Liberal Bloggers/Talk Show Hosts: "We have investigated the situation and learned that Mr. X NEVER beat his wife, and it's all a lie being propagated by the right." Fox News/Wingnut Talk Show Hosts: "Mr. X and the Controversy Over Whether He Beats His Wife!" Other News Outlets: "It looks as if the wife-beating controversy over Mr. X is just growing and growing! The conservatives say he does. The liberals say he doesn't. Who knows?? Depends on who you ask!"

5. And at the last point you made, the rest of the media becomes culpable in |
|
spreading innuendo and made up gossip.
