'Avatar' is a great film. I loved it
A bit over the top for me in moments, but I watch CSPAN so...
It had a compare contrast theme, I thought. It compared neo-liberalism, or the neocons - with a 'natural man' race who valued their advanced eco system. Jean Jacques Rousseau v. Thomas Hobbes, but I wont say who wins and be a spoiler.

I saw this review from a complete douche at film.com and was worried;
http://www.film.com/movies/avatar-fox/story/review-avatar-visual-masterpiece-lackluster/31364052
But the guy is a dolt, it was very entertaining. If you hate tree hugging you might agree with Laremy "pus wad" Legel's review.

1. Kicking for climate change awareness!
:kick:
I think this flick will bring climate change and the eco sphere awareness to the masses.
Does anyone plan to see it?
I bet there will be a Faux News backlash.

3. Did you see the 3D version?
I saw the trailer in 3D before A Christmas Carol and it was nothing short of astonishing. The reviews for the most part have been beyond positive. As far as Fox news well, they thought Tinky Winky was gay so...

6. Side issue entirely, but what if Tinky Winky was gay? I think that'd
be a good model for little kids, gay or straight!

9. No it wouldn't. Do you want kids thinking they have to hide what they are?
Tinky Winky was not "out". The only signs that he/she/it was gay were the rantings of the religious right. If we want gay role models for our kids they shouldn't be hidden or disguised. Sesame Street is doing it the right way.

15. Um, is this the South African Sesame Street?
I know they have Kami, the HIV muppet. But she got it through a tainted blood transfusion.

I haven't heard of this new character?

17. You want to know.. look it up or start your own thread.
This one has been hijacked long enough and judging from the way you have treated me in the past I'm certainly not here to fucking educate you.

And found nothing to support your claim.

So... I guess you're right, you're not here to educate me.

If we want gay role models for our kids they need to be GAY. Now can we get back to the topic at hand I'm waiting to see if the OP saw this in 3D

16. Sorry for the delay, we didn't see it in 3D. That may have caused a flashback
I don't recommend seeing this film high in any way shape or form. You may never come back!

19. Saw it yesterday night....it was fantastic!!
Avatar(3d) is probably one of the best action/sci-fi movies ive seen in the past few years. The visual effects are beyond compare...and the 3D really makes a huge diff; unlike in some previous so called "3d" movies which don't really have a noticeable difference from their 2d counterparts.

The Planet Pandora(where the movie takes place) is fully fleshed out with its own unique ecosystem. Furthermore, as you said; i too like the message Cameron is conveying through this movie. Already ive seen a number of far right/religious fundie websites claiming this movie to be the embodiment of evil..most of what those loons consider to be evil turn out to be quite the contrary..in my worldview :)). I also like the environmental message that's reinforced quite often in the movie. Great work by Cameron.

If you guys can, do watch it :)

20. Agreed. It was the first real film we've seen in over a year!
$10 well spent. I'll see the 3D too. I was afraid it would be the annoying quasi-3D that everything else has been in the past. This film is a MUST to see on the big screen. What an event! Some flicks are fine at home on a HD plasma/LCD. This is a big screen film if you can.
