Every year about this time, my friend Andy sends out an email asking a dozen of
his most rabid, music-obsessed friends to send him their personal list of the
top 10 albums of the year for compiling and comparing and re-sharing, so we can
all discover something new and/or gently mock each others' weird tastes in
African banjo disco or kazoo jazz funk or ambient doom metal.

Being the only writer in the group, I get to entertain/annoy everyone with my
happily verbose contribution. Seems I just can't help it; I love writing about
the music I've been adoring throughout the year. I think this one came out
rather well. I thought I might share it with you.

Disclaimer: I am not a music critic -- at least, not by training. But my palate
is wide and deep and I know well of what I speak. I've also skimmed a handful of

wildly evident: 1) Many so-called music people have no idea what the hell
they're talking about, and 2) it's possible something is wrong with me because I
don't give a crap about Animal Collective or Grizzly Bear. Oh well.
