1. I don't think so because....
Every time he has changed his position, he has moved to the right and NOT the left. It makes me think that he really does believe all this BS the right and his advisors throw out. He seems to merely need a light tap to move to the right but has yet been hit hard enough to move to the left.

2. That would be nice..
... but he has ignored his base up until now, I don't see that changing.

In fact, the more I see him in action the more I'm struck by the fact that he's really taken on way more than he can handle.

This climate crap can wait until health care and the economy are stabilized IMHO, I know others will disagree. I think he is spread so thin he couldn't be effective if he wanted to.

Too, focused on a "win". Nothing else seems to matter.

6. doubt it--unless you mean moving even further right. right now, he is acting as if he doesn't care.
and, frankly, that "I am going to be the last president to take on health care" crap was just that. IF he had pushed for universal health care, IF we had gotten it, THEN he could say something like that. the puny, weak bs that came out of the House, the disaster coming out of the senate, are NOT in any way a help.

10. Obama used the hope of millions of twinkling votes to get elected
and then refused to use that same source to light the backooms where the deals were made.

Because in the backrooms, the light of CAPITAL illuminates everything with it's blinding brilliance.

It was obvious that the flickering hopes of ordinary people that made his election simply have nothing that can compete with the light emerging from the horizon event where all wealth coalesces into a single mass that swallows everything.

16. No, why would it? He didn't want a public option to begin with,
it appears we won't get one, and he is still very likely to be re-elected.

19. That's incorrect
Obama: Public option should be part of reform

Weighing in on issue in Cincinnati, Obama said, "I continue to believe that a public option within the basket of insurance choices would help improve quality and bring down costs."

20. That quote doesn't mean what you imply it means.
It means that he believed a public option would help improve quality and bring down costs. It does NOT say that this was the solution he wanted.

24. The truth is that if we kept this up long enough and don't
waiver in our protest, no matter what, he would have to rethink it. He may even have to write it himself just to shut us up, if we do it right.

26. I doubt he cares.
There was tremendous popular backlash to the kid-glove treatment of Wall St. and the huge bailouts. The administration's answer was to funnel even more money to the banksters and let the same fat foxes keep guarding the hen house.

32. I think if Obama gave a damn what the left wanted he would not have his
CofS out there actively spewing his hatred of us all over the media since July. I think if the president had ever wanted a PO, his CofS wouldn't have called the ads progressives were running to get one, "fucking stupid."
