Please answer honestly, as it would be helpful to know what the situation is.

1. I do... and if this bogus bill gets passed, that cost will triple |
|
from the estimates I've read.
Which is freakin' ridiculous.

8. they already exist. They're called INSURANCE AGENCIES |
|
and they decide who will live and who will die on a daily basis. Nothing in this bill will change that.

people like you seem entirely incapable of carrying on a decent discussion. Your continual snark undermines any credibility you make seek.

35. People like me? You mean the ones that practice and demand critcial thinking? |
|
the ones that are careful to have facts or reasons behind any statements and expect the same of others? Yeah seeing how you like to make statements that are not based on either fact or reason, I could see how you would feel your creative process is stifled. Must be great to say whatever makes you feel good, facts be damned.

12. I think the fact that most (so far) of us have "coverage" AND many of us still think that |
|
the proposed bill sucks and universal coverage is the only good outcome speaks volumes. That we are willing to make a change in a system that generally works for us tells me that we care about everyone's health, not just our own. But then, that is the characteristic of liberals versus cons and mods.

15. I have an individual plan, as my employer doesn't offer me and 50% of the other employees here |
|
any benefits.
It's basically a catastrophic coverage plan. High deductible and doesn't cover 2 pre-existing conditions.
I'd love to have group medical; haven't had it since 1993.
I'd love the USA to have a national health plan even more.

I read that the house voted for the 6 month subsidy extension which would mean we'll still be able to carry it into next year. It was included in the dept. of defense bill. I don't know if the Senate has voted yet or not.

I work for a county agency (i.e. a particular Dem govornor candidate) in which for the first time in it's history, employees will now have to participate in paying a part of their premiums.
This issue has been a huge area of debate. It's not so much I mind (I had to pay when I worked in the private sector) but it's the rhetoric being used that's at issue.
Mind you, these same people have touted us as being great workers who accepted lower pay because of the wonderful benefit packages offered. At one time, that was so very true.
The last 2 years we've been hit pretty hard, imo. Last year we were basically forced out of the PPO that had been offered since I started some 13 years ago into a HMO. Luckily that wasn't so bad especially in lieu of not getting the full COLA that was approved (we only got 75%).
This year, us employees not only have forgo a COLA that our surrounding county colleagues got, but they are now basically forcing us out of that HMO into an extremely high co-pay plan plus having us part part of the premiums (somewhere around 5% based on salary).
So yeah, I have insurance. I also have taken about a 7% paycut on top of it, plus another 4-5% for co-pays that I have to put into a FSA just in case an emergency occurs and then at the end of the year if nothing catastrophic happens, buying shit I don't need just to keep from losing it.

37. Yes. I have insurance that Americans help pay for with their taxes. |
|
Edited on Fri Dec-18-09 12:11 PM by Solly Mack
My taxes pay for it. Your taxes pay for it. Everyone that pays taxes pays for it. Course, it is also a job related benefit but I don't ever pretend it isn't tax payer paid for, because it is. I do pay for dental insurance though...a whole 18 dollars a month for family coverage that covers 50%-100% of all costs(depends on treatment). (it's tax payer subsidized)
