John McCain and Howard Dean agree
Republicans, who have been going all out to kill the bill, couldn't believe what they were hearing from Democrats.

"If you live long enough, all things can happen," Sen. John McCain, R-Ariz., said on the Senate floor. "I now find myself in complete agreement with Dr. Howard Dean, who says that we should stop this bill in its tracks. ... Dr. Dean, I am with you."

2. for different reasons
McCain is an ass. He cannot fathom why Howard Dean would say this. He cannot fathom that Dean wants a public option and no mandate. In McCain's little arteriolscleortic cranium, he cannot comprehend the difference in their 2 stances.

15. Not exactly. He wants to look like the good guy when it passes.
Edited on Fri Dec-18-09 12:19 PM by YOY
Because he opposed this horrible "reform" thing from the go. Does't matter if his folks get rich from it. This is a Democratic initiative in a time of a democratic majority.

Dean wants the horrible bill that will make Democratic party look bad and not even help those it was intended to dead for those reasons. It will make the party look bad and it will not help at all.

5. You do not seem to be getting the message. I'll say it again.

Dean-bashing is not the way to win friends and influence people on the left.

6. How is it Dean bashing to point out that Dean and McCain agree on this issue?

Though I have to wonder how Obama bashing is a way to win friends on the left.

7. John McCain did not bash Howard Dean.
If Dean and been there, McCain probably would have given him a big old Republcian hug while Lieberman kissed Dean and slipped him a little tongue.

The term, strange bedfellows comes to mind.

17. For the same reason: It will make the Democratic party look bad if it passes.
Democratic majority, democratic initiative and a failure of a bill that makes things worse? Democratic fuckup gets Republicans back in power crowing their usual anti-government BS.

Which leads to the rhetorical question for Republicans: why would you put people in governmental power who claim that the government need to not be involved? Of course our glorious blue dogs and droopy don't help at all.
