Book: Lewinsky claims Clinton lied to jury
Book: Lewinsky claims Clinton lied to jury

WASHINGTON, Dec. 18 (UPI) -- A new book quotes one-time White House intern Monica Lewinsky as saying former U.S. President Bill Clinton lied about their relationship under oath.

In the upcoming book, "The Death of American Virtue," author Ken Gormley writes that Lewinsky now believes Clinton lied about their relationship during his grand jury testimony, the Washington publication Politico reported Friday.

"There was no leeway (there) on the veracity of his statements because they asked him detailed and specific questions to which he answered untruthfully," Lewinsky reportedly wrote to Gormley earlier this year.

Clinton on Aug. 17, 1998, testified to a grand jury called by special prosecutor Kenneth Starr via closed circuit television from the White House, later that evening making a televised address to the nation about the testimony during which he admitted he had a "not appropriate" relationship with Lewinsky, but insisting that he never directed anyone to lie about it.

Politico says Gormley also gives a harsh assessment of Starr, reportedly characterizing him as a man out of his depth. The book, it said, would give ammunition to Starr critics who say his investigation was compromised from the beginning.

1. "a man out of his depth" regarding Ken Starr?
I would have characterized him in harsher words myself, much harsher.

19. Starr was evil, pure and simple
He was the hatchet man to smear a sitting U.S. president in order to help the GOP gain seats in Congress.

The bogus impeachment was nothing more than a hissy fit directed by Tom DeLay as payback for GOP losses in the 1998 midterms.

12. The entire matter was staged to help smear Dems in the public's eye
So that Dems who actually are more so aligned w/moderate repubs could be painted as "liberal" even though they don't actually represent those qualities in their institutional capacity, thus helping to further confuse the public's perceptions so that it becomes easier and easier for the Powers That Be to offer up "electable" Dems who are nothing but corporatists w/o as much public acknowledgment and opposition.

6. Uh, wasn't that videotape shown across the land about 10 years ago?
There are better ways to find 15 more minutes of fame.

But since people prefer the low-brow road, when in Rome don't do what the Polish do.

7. Monica Lewinsky was a low-rent whore who pursued a married man
for her own personal gain, or she was a paid prostitute and GOP operative who was trying to bring Clinton down. Clinton wasn't an innocent bystander in this, though... he did what he did, then lied about it (as just about any man or woman would do when first confronted about an affair).

9. Paid prostitute and GOP operative?
That's the first I've ever heard of it. Do you have anything to substantiate that claim?

28. No, I have no proof.. just my own deductions..
Linda Tripp was a White House employee of Poppy Bush's. She was transferred to the Pentagon under Clinton's administration.

Linda Tripp was also rumored to be the one who told about the affair between GHWB and Jennifer Fitzgerald.

Is it just coincidence that Linda Tripp is the one Lewinsky chose to "confide" in? Could be.... or maybe not.

Your mileage may vary

Peace,

Ghost

17. And Clinton wasn't the first married man she "had," either,
if one thinks having what amounts to foreplay "sex."

He slipped up during the middle of the Gingrich-inspired fight to shut down the government.

Meanwhile, married Gingrich was fucking his girlfriend, later third wife, in the back of his Mustang in the parking garage with the windows all fogged up.

"If this car's a-rockin', don't come a-knockin'" in the words of a memorable Salon magazine article written by David Corn.

24. Just because...
...Gingrich was a ruthless asshole does not exclude Clinton from being a fool for his johnson. There are more then enough women in his past to substantiate that claim.

Clinton fucked up....plain and simple.

Shakespeare had it right...'The evil that men do lives after them, the good is oft interred with their bones.'

26. That's because you don't understand what the whole impeachment thing was about
It was a political witchhunt, and when Whitewater, Vincent Foster, and all of the other bogus things didn't pan out for Starr and company, then it was time to go after sex.

You really don't get what it was all about--it was a POWER grab, an attempted coup, by Republican Party extremists.

I will not bother to "debate" somebody who believed all of the lies perpetrated by the media.
