I just took out my anger on a BofA person |

Got a call from BofA, before I cut him off, he was offering to buy some life insurance. I said, I do not want to business with BofA since they froze my HELOC, and that I plan on getting a home loan as soon as possible. It felt sort of good. But it won't make a difference.

in case of an emergency. Having paid for the appraiser which came in with a decent value on my home, and these jerks are saying it's worth less than half in six months and no one has sold a home in my neighbor is beyond irritating, like you comment.

because your home won't be able to be used as an ATM machine for your "emergency" anymore. A lot of people in this country are going to be in for a surprise when the real repercussions of this disaster hit home.
I would suggest paying off debt and saving, but what do I know.

how would you finance a remodel?
(I'm asking sincerely and not sarcastically)

Wow it is incredible that after what we have been through (the mortgage crisis) someone still thinks it is a good idea to take out a HELOC to finance a remodel. (which was one of the biggest marketing lines banks like WAMU used)
If you can't afford that remodel with out taking out a HELOC you don't do it.
You are basically turning your HOME in to a credit card. Owning ones HOME gives you stability and a HOME.
When you start taking out loans against your HOME to finance things you can't afford you risk losing your HOME and becoming HOME-less. That's why.
