Trucker's strike Apr 23-25: Is this really going to happen?
If so, on what scale? Will we really see DC shutdown?

7. When I googled 'trucker's STRIKE' I got 2005 information from an old effort.
that targetted high gas prices. This isn't a full-blown strike, it's a rally/protest, similar to the one the farmers did during the Carter era. There are some people who are behind what they are calling a "truck out" but it's not the full spectrum of a nationwide strike by any stretch.

From the third link, very er, instructive...

WHAT WILL THE "TRUCK-OUT" ACCOMPLISH ? The point is to shut down all trucking and surround every legislative capital building in every state (and in D C) with a bumper-to-bumper "train" of trucks. We need local truckers to take-over the planning for their state capital.
The "Day Without Immigrants" fiasco last year was a cake-walk compared to this campaign. Imagine a "Day without U.S. citizen-truckers." Now there's a bid deal.
In addition, there will be a convoy of trucks, cars and motorcycles in every major city— to protest the corrupt plans our government has to destroy our trucking industry, and our nation.
This will, in turn, shut down all industry dependent on the truckers, as most of these industries employee illegal aliens. The guilty greedy employers will feel the heat as the "silent majority" gets vocal, and starts to report the criminals—as well as hammer the elected and appointed officials, to enforce the existing laws and rules.
This will show our government that "we-the-people" do have power— are willing exercise that POWER, and will no longer tolerate the refusal of the elected and appointed "big guys" to do the will of the legal American citizens and LEGAL immigrants in this country.
Yankees Si, Banditos NO !

Banditos, eh? Good grief.

9. The "Truck Out"
Edited on Sun Apr-22-07 08:10 PM by the 48th ronin
The “truck out” called by Wanda Piety and Forrest (frosty) Wooldridge is based from their (brand new) web site http://www.saveamericafund.com .

They have toned down their original call for trucks to surround the capital and all state capitals to a “slow rolling blockade at all capitals and all over the country..LOL

For all the bombastic rhetoric, very little will happen. Truckers who were around for the 73 shut down led by a Magazine publisher of “overdrive” magazine, remember all to well how the publisher became famous and the truck owners were left holding thousands of dollars in tow and legal fees…

Drivers who are slow learners ( like myself) again participated in a “slow roll” of 55 MPH and were arrested where ever they made that foolish mistake for “impeding the flow of traffic”.

That time the magazine didn’t even report the story and AMERICA never knew it happened if they were not caught in traffic.

This time around truck owners and drivers have an organization founded by many of those truck owners who were involved in the early 70s.. The name of that organization is “The Owner Operator Independent Drivers Association” You can check them out at http"//www.ooida.com .

OOIDA has not joined in this "truck out" but in the members only forums there has been much discussions about it. The association Board of Directors had their usual annual meeting this week and afterward did not call for the members to join in this activity but instead called for all Americans who are against letting the Mexican Trucks come across the border until Mexico actually does meet the standards set for them in 2002 ( they have not), to contact their Senators and congressmen to insure that the measure tacked into the Iraq funding bill that cuts of funding for the pilot program to allow Mexican trucks in is on the reconciled bill that will be sent to the President.

If that bill is vetoed due to other concerns ( time line for with drawl) then all bets are off.

If you have concerns you can read without being a member the names of the conferees.. in a special report from OOIDA at http://www.landlinemag.com/Special_Reports/2007/Apr07/042007_Effort_to_slow.htm .

You do not need to be a member to join in the call for action there, and if you do not know how to contact your Senators and congressmen you can always go to http://www.congress.org and by entering your ZIP code you can type in a quick email and have it sent to both of your Senators and your congressman.

For those wanting to know more about the “truck out” and this truck owners opinions, you can visit my blog http://www.marystruck.us/garden/

The FAIRUS anti immigration rally that this “truck out” attempts to piggy back on has many fine points that I support, and a few that I cannot.. The “hold their feet to the fire” rally information can be found at http://www.fairus.org .

It is time to decide what you believe and make all effort to make sure the Government does what you think it should do.. Methods to accomplish that and even what a person thinks should be done will vary from person to person.. The GREAT thing about America is we all have a right to our beliefs and actions to support them.. Stay safe.. Rusty Wade

10. First News reports on the Big Truck Out
http://news.wjla.com/news/stories/0407/416627.html

First report I can find of the big rally... from channel 7 Washington DC

Radio Hosts Rally Activists Against Illegal Immigration
Washington - Sunday April 22, 2007 4:52 pm

A group of radio talk show personalities are kicking of a week of lobbying against illegal immigration in Congress by rallying across from the White House Sunday.

Organizers hope the radio hosts will galvanize many groups into a potent force against illegal immigration. Many area residents have raised concerns in places like Herndon and Gaithersburg about job centers for day laborers, who are mostly immigrants.

Today's organizers say they plan to focus on three issues: improving border security, opposing amnesty for immigrants living illegally in the country and enforcing federal laws against the hiring of illegal immigrants.

Unfortunately no one mentioned to the television reporter about TRUCKS...

From the one picture accompanying the article, it appears the weather was chilly this morning in Washington DC... Maybe it kept the throngs inside?

I seem to recall a couple of DU truckers debunking this several weeks ago.

8. True or not, happening or not--the racist invective in the manifesto is a bit much....IMO.
The first link cited above was written by someone without spell check who slept through seventh grade grammar classes. It proudly displays photos of Ron Paul and Tom Fucking Tancredo. Lovely.

The third link calls foreign truckers "banditos."

Quite frankly, Americans are selfish bastards. They want to go where they want to go. They don't "relate" to strikes of inconvenience like this. Their first instinct is to say "You ASSHOLES!!" Their second instinct is to bellow "You FUCKING assholes!!!"

If they're held up for HOURS by 'slow rolling' trucks, they'll be inclined to support Mexican truck drivers, and won't give a shit about dire warnings that they will all be 'high as kites on speed,' whipping down the highways at a zillion miles an hour, because they want to go where they want to go, and they'd rather have that than these sorts of protests.

And all that needs to happen is for ONE ambulance to be held up, for ONE car to be slowed down so some kid isn't at his dying mother's bedside, and that shit becomes "THE" story.

We know how the media plays this stuff.
