5. Good advice-----it can get really nasty and really dangerous.

I had a friend killed some years ago in just 1" of slippery snow. A large truck on the opposite side of the 2 lane road went into a skid and went into my friend's car.

Scary stuff.

9. Here's a simple rule for driving in slippery conditions;

Drive as if there is an egg taped to the bottom of your right shoe. Never push on your gas or brake harder than it would take to break the egg.

This changes the way you go about accelerating and braking because you have to look down the road much further and do more anticipation than you normally would.

Also, don't assume ANYONE else is using this same rule.

16. More advice:

Leave plenty of room between you and the car in front of you.

If you start to skid, turn your wheels in the direction of the skid, take your foot off the gas and keep it off the brake. Let gravity slow you down.

If you get stuck in blizzard like conditions and are running the engine, be sure to clear the area around the exhaust pipe often to prevent carbon monoxide build-up in you auto; otherwise, you might wake up dead.

Have a winter emergency kit in your car in case you get bogged down,etc.

Okay, now I understand.

Yes, if I were in the Carolinas, and it were snowing, I wouldn't want to find out what happens when y'all get off of the oval track and onto actual roads.

I was wondering what the worry was over some snow.

There's about a foot of snow on the ground; mixed with ice and sleet to make it extra slick.

Besides, about half the drivers in North Carolina are transplanted Yankees.

They cause the accidents, because they think they know how to drive on snow.
