DeMint: Ben Nelson Will Be 'An American Hero' If He Opposes Health Care Reform
Source: TPM

Sen. Jim DeMint (R-SC) said on Fox News today that Ben Nelson will be "an American hero if he stands up and says no" to health care reform.

DeMint insisted that Republicans "have not been in the way so far, we haven't held up anything. They are on their own. It's the Democrats against the American people. Republicans are pretty much on the sidelines and have been."

He also said that "Ben Nelson will be an American hero, if he stands up and says no to this. The type of intimidation and pressure he's under is incredible."

2. Poor deluded DeMint. Republicans seem to lack
the ability to think.

I am against this bill, mainly because of the Mandates. But Ben Nelson is a tool of the Private Ins. Industry which he made clear in his statement as to why he opposes this bill.

Funny, Ben is worried about the cost and he listed a few of those costs and who he thinks need to sacrifice to lower them. Naturally it was not his Corporate masters.

What he forgot to list, was the high cost of a Health Care system run by For-Profit Private Corporations.

The overhead costs of keeping such a system in place, are astronomical. Their participation in this system costs ONE THIRD of all the money available for healthcare. An amount of money that we do not need to spend.

Medicare's overhead by comparison, is only 3% of the cost. Funny how Ben forgot to include such a major cost.

Not so funny when you look at where he came from. Thanks to another DUer in another thread, we are now aware that Ben Nelson's career, before he ran for elected office, was spent in the Insurance Industry.

If DeMint thinks that a hero = someone who is in effect a lobbyist for Private Ins. who has been planted in Congress to do their dirty work for a price, I don't think DeMint is sparking on all plugs.

I intend to call Ben's office and ask him why he left out the biggest cost of all, and since 'cost' is his main objection to the Bill, would he be willing to support the least costly option, Medicare for All? I wish our media would do their job and expose these moles for big business in Congress, but if they won't I guess the people will have to do it.
