I called them this morning with high praise for Al. I asked if it was dissent or just procedural. The aid insisted it wasn't dissent. I asked if it could have been just a tiny bit. And added that if it was I fully endorsed it. The aid, who sounded quite positive, said he'd pass it on.

Even if Senator Franken was just following orders to keep things moving, it still had to be SWEET to deny Joe like that. I would have had a very difficult time not giggling like a school girl. I think it would have been really cool to have a Dem huddle and pretend like there was a huge discussion, everyone taking a turn to glance up at Joe, lots of whispering going on, an occasional outbreak of laughter, followed by "let's get serious" sounds, then everyone returning to their seats and the shutdown...at least that's how it how it happens in my head.
