6. Asheville and Waynesville socked in for sure, |
|
but down in Murphy it was just rain for the past 18 hours. Temp is dropping now though (11:30 pm). Coffee, movies, sausage bisquits. It's okay.

That is why I got everything I need and plan on staying in place. Around the DC area, it could be several days before we get dug out.

We just pretty much have conversational snow now, but it is snowing hard so it is starting to accumulate.

I went camping down there, a long time ago, and I swear somebody actually said "Y'all come back now, ya hear?" to us.

Y'all come back now, ya hear? LOL I don't sound quite that country but the southern twang is definitely there.
I live outside of Roanoke about 105 miles northeast of Marion. We live out in the country.

It was just something I wasn't used to. I heard Roanoke is getting nailed. It made the DC news. It really just started here, and the heavy snow hasn't arrived yet. Enjoy your weekend, stay safe.
We were camping at Hungry Mother State Park, it is a beautiful place.

We certainly do sound like hicks. :-)
We used to camp at Hungry Mother State Park a lot when we were younger. We had a crazy Boxer that would sneak out of the tent and go traveling.
Yep, Roanoke is getting nailed. I'm outside of Roanoke and we are getting nailed.

23. Heck, we're getting nailed in Richmond, too. It started last night at |
|
about 5 PM and hasn't stopped. We've got 10 - 12 inches right now. Nothing's moving on the streets.
I just looked out the window -- it's snowing heavily again, after a short period of icy sleet. Lovely! I'm glad I went to the library and have already stocked the fridge and pantry. I won't be going out for any reason, that's for sure.

17. I just got back and it's still crowded - shelves are empty |
|
and the self-checkout was closed. Had to buy some kind of expensive 12 grain no salt high protein bread just to have something to smear my PB&J on. Everyone's out buying their blizzard provisions like ice cream, house plants, lawn chairs and pimple cream.

What will you do tomorrow? And add cream cheese in to the salsa, just pour salsa over the cream cheese, makes a yummy snack.

27. I fixed my broken pipes last weekend, |
|
and 24 hours later lost power to most of my house. An electrician will be here Monday to inspect and give me a quote. Repairs will probably have to wait, since I just paid to repair the broken pipes.
I'm hoping that the rare warm front we're experiencing will hold while I'm camped out with lanterns, candles, and flashlights.

It is still snowing here, and pretty hard right now. We have a little over a foot right now, but I am northwest of DC, and other areas have been hit harder. Make sure you have everything you need and enjoy!

I hope we have no emergencies for a week because I probably won't be able to get my car out of the alley in that time.

I went out and shoveled once, but it was coming down so hard it didn't do much good. A kid came by this afternoon and wanted to shovel me out for $20, that was after I had shoveled. I had to tell him to come back tomorrow. Tomorrow it will be worth it as long as shoveling my car out is included in that. Today, I knew it wasn't worth it. But I support kids taking the initiative to make money.

In the 2003 storm a couple of adults were willing to shovel long driveways that hadn't been touched for $50. It would be worth it now that the snow has stopped. My problem is our alley won't be plowed by the county and I can't get the car out of my driveway (which faces the alley) as long as the snow is in the alley.
It's a mess. I feel sorry for all those people stranded at the airports.
