Part time employees under the HC bill
unless something has changed in the most recent version, my interpretation is it requires employers to pay a proportional amount for part timers based on their hours worked. Any other part time workers out there concerned about losing their jobs because of this thing? As I alluded to in another thread, I can definitely see this happening in my case. My employer was looking for ways to reduce HC costs before this bill ever came down the pike. They like me, and like what I do, but when the bottom line is involved, that doesn't carry much water. I think the order of the day will be consolidate, double up, contract out. Good luck to my fellow part timers. I think we'll need it.

1. I'm not just venting here. I was hoping someone would come along and tell me
I have nothing to worry about.

3. I'm a part-time contract worker--per diem.
So I wonder if I'll be able to continue doing that. I love working contract because it gives me flexibility. I thought healthcare reform was supposed to give us more choices. My husband carries insurance through his union membership and he has been out of work. He may lose his benefits or we may just have to pay monthly till we get some work (he is an electrician)-- we keep waiting for some stimulus job to come to our neck of the woods but it is more and more like waiting for the tooth fairy when it comes to job creation in upstate NY.
