Population of NE: 1.7M Population of LA County: 9.8M |

THIS is why the Senate is a completely undemocratic institution.
The people of Nebraska, apparently, elected a King.

1. Vermont's Populations Is Even Smaller. |

If Bernie Sanders were to object to this horrible bill (and follow the advice of another Vermonter, Dr. Dean), this bill would NOT pass.
That would be a good thing, in my opinion.

4. The purpose of the Senate having an equal number of Senators |

Edited on Sat Dec-19-09 12:00 PM by TwilightGardener
from each state, NOT tied to population, is because the Senators represent the interests of the STATE itself as a body, rather than a certain number of constituents (like the House). At least that's how I understand it. That's why the state governors used to appoint Senators to represent the interests of the state, rather than being elected.
