Now that it's a done deal- and it is a done deal- I'm going to
hope for the best. I hope that this legislation doesn't turn out to be as bad as I think it is. I hope that it will actually help not hurt people, particularly people who have had no insurance. I hope that the Insurance companies will be tightly regulated and not allowed to continue fucking people.

I don't know what else to do.

1. Are you watching C-SPAN?
Mitch McConnell has demanded that Reid's amendment be read on the floor and Reid is allowing it. I wonder if Reid is going to get pissed now and finally do something?

2. What could he do at this point? Capitulation seems to have occured on virtually every serious issue.

7. Respectfully disagree.
I am fully confident that Reid will send an e-mail out, asking for contributions.

4. Yep
What I anticipate is my insurance premiums skyrocketing until we can't pay them any more. We're lucky though - we can revert back to TriCare. It sucks, but it's better than nothing.

5. There's little we can do, it seems.
I suggest focusing our energy on the states. The Federal Government is a lost cause, it seems, and all we can do there is block the oligarchs from further enslaving us.

But at the state level, we may have more success.

Kill the bill.

Forcing people to buy insurance is no more the answer to a failed health care

system than forcing people to buy houses is the solution to homelessness.

12. Well, no more than any other states. Heard Sanders talking today on C-Span. He apparently got some
sort of concession to prevent a problem he thought the bill would cause Vermont. Didn't hear the details but he was saying he didn't want the bill to hurt states who have been trying to do the right thing and was glad they fixed that part for him.

15. Oh, it will. That's the point.
One of the key functions of this bill is to prevent any state from enacting a single-payer system. That's why Pelosi stripped the Kucinich Amendment out (almost certainly under direct orders from the White House). No, if the bill passes, we're screwn in regards to health care.

But, as to other issues, we may want to focus our energy on the states. The Federal Government seems to be a lost cause.

17. Me too Cali.
But honestly I doubt the bill will ever happen. Why? Because of the mandate.

I can just see the Repukes playing up to the American trait of detesting being mandated to do anything. How many times have you heard the dumb saying "You only have to do two things in life, die and pay taxes" Cue in Repuke saying "And if the Democrats have their way, you'll have to pay for your health care whether you want it or not" Stupid I know but how much of the electorate thinks past the end of their noses.

If the Repukes take back power they will repeal this. It's going to be interesting.
