It's a given that this is HCR bill is going to get rammed through and the Democrats in Congress will |

be high-fiving each other and popping champagne. President Obama will have saved face, which is what this is all about anyway, and once it gets out of conference and Obama signs it, they don't have to worry about health care anymore. They can move on to declaring war with Iran and Pakistan and bailing out more corporations with our debt and tax money.
But, my fellow Progressives, we lost the battle, we haven't lost the war. This gives us the opportunity between now and November to identify progressive candidates and to funnel our donation money to those candidates who can be convinced to run against an incumbent Blue Dog Democrat in 2010, not to mention Republicans. Do not give a penny to the DNC, DCCC or DSCC. All your money will go to fund corporate friendly Blue Dogs and moderates and to marginalize any progressive candidates. The DNC, DCCC and DSCC will have millions thrown at them anyway from corporations looking to buy a new Congressman or Representative. They don't need your piddling $25. But a new liberal candidate will in states that have low populations. Now maybe some of those Blue Dogs may lose and pull a Lieberman by turning independent and getting on the ballot anyway, so our candidates need all the money and support they can get to defeat this candidate twice. This time we will be ready for them.
Get your metaphorical pitchforks and torches ready and get into battle formation. We will not give up until we take our country back from the corporations and get the power to bust them back down to easily controlled entities because what is going on now is nothing more than organized, legalized crime and fascism. Naomi Klein is so right on this. Then we can go back to the drawing board and demand real health care reform preferably sooner rather than later.

2. If progressives REALLY want to accomplish something... |
|
...aside from forming circular firing squads, they will start planning for the years just before mandates take effect in 2013, to keep tabs on the expected cost of insurance and whether there's going to be any offerers for the non-profit OPM plan -- and, if not, to be ready with proposals for a real public option and/or Medicare buy-in to solve the resulting "crisis." Remember, once this bill is in place, passing one or the other of those becomes much easier to put through reconciliation than this bill would have been.

You say Remember, once this bill is in place, passing one or the other of those becomes much easier to put through reconciliation than this bill would have been.
Do you understand that this {EXPLETIVE DELETED} HCR bill is what it is because of the huge monies that the insurance and Big Medical Interest Industries use to wage control over the legislative and executive processes?
So how will it be easier to make changes after these industries get monies from an additional 30 million people, plus the government subsidies of 890 Billion bucks?
The Big Industry interests will have even more dough at their employ to control the processes and to enforce our slavery even further.
But I give you a chance to explain. Maybe you see something I don't.

5. Meh. The current Democrats are supposed to represent the people |
|
They've positioned themselves as the AntiRepublicans for too long.
The mask is off, the screen is down.
They'll have a hard time raising money in the future.

7. They will get money from the usual corporate lobbyists and front groups, |
|
which is why we need to keep our grass roots money separate from theirs and use it to help progressive candidates fight them back their expensive ads and other ways of smearing the opponent.

8. Actually, I'm kinda done. |
|
I won't be giving money to ANY candidate, ever again.
I'll support local issues like Environment Colorado or CoPIRG. Maybe Lambda Legal. That's it for me.

Just don't spend your money and time on candidates who will turn their back on you when it's over.

12. When the republicans take over congress in 2010 - and they will - |
|
the mandates will be removed because that is what they will run on. We have screwed the pooch with this monstrosity. I will support local progressives when I can and if a progressive candidate should run for national office - I will support them also.
I do not see that happening as the corporations are our masters and it is in their hands. I am in total agreement with you as it relates to not giving a penny to traditional democratic organizations - they have shown us what they are - and it is ugly.

16. I'd like to know which law firms are getting it together to file against the mandate |
|
Backing progressives are one thing - but if someone is going to really go after this *mandate*, I'd like to kick in some bucks for that as well.

The mandates are nothing more than the dictates of a state veering toward totalitarianism, not a good thing, IMHO.
