Let me tell you all about a Xmas Card we received yesterday, opinions wanted
Our kids go to parochial schools. Youngest in 2nd grade. Family of a friend of hers sent us Xmas card. Wife looked at it and said, "It figures". I looked at it and it was a photo of their two kids holding up 'lists'. The greeting stated, 'Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays, Please Santa we want a new Congress. Followed by the family's last name.
The lists the kids were holding were upside down, BUT the writing was very clear and easy to read. In fact, I read the List's names first, one said Naughty and the other said NICE.
I turned the card upside down and read the following on the Naughty List
President Obama, Barney Frank, SEIU, Pelosi, Dean, Clinton etc
On the Nice List were the following:
Sarah Palin, George W. Bush Tea Parties, Glenn Beck, Sean Hannity, Peace Officers etc
I STILL cannot believe this family sent this kind of shit out on their Xmas card! AND had their kids pose with it to boot!
Talk about poor taste!
I'm getting all ticked off again, and will check back later for any response to this,,
Happy Holidays and the Merriest of Christmas to Everyone!

2. A simple response might be in order.
Something like, very happy to get Xmas cards, but do not use the holiday to proselytize your batshit crazy politics.

4. Hmm.
I would just throw it away. The Christmas "wish" is hardly sincere anyway.

Not worth getting upset about.

5. They can't help themselves
Have you already sent your cards out to them? If not, find one with the Obama family and send to them. Or find one with anyone on their "naughty" list and send -- and then send a donation to same. Hey the idiots provided you with the list. You may as well put it to use.

sexual predators in their party.

Write "Traitors" on it. Get about 100 copies made and plaster them around town.

7. Just don't reciprocate at all
Sending cards costs money. They won't repeat the effort.

After all, you don't want to punish the kids because they're jerks and that's what you'd likely be doing if you made an issue of it, "Don't play with their kid, he belongs to Satan," and that sort of thing.

14. Those 'brats' grow up to think/believe the same way that mommy/daddy did.....
those 'brats' are republicans (of the worst kind ~ it wasn't always so) in the making.

It really shouldn't be ignored, imho.

Their card was VERY VERY AGGRESSIVE (not appropriate for the supposed season of "good will to all (wo)/men.

10. Ugh. Tacky.
And that's a bi-partisan thumbs-down from me - I would be equally as irritated if a progressive on my XMas card mailing list sent me a similar card with the "Naughty" vs. "Nice" lists reversed.

Christmas cards aren't the place for politics. Just my opinion.

Actually, if I were in your position, I would seriously consider quietly removing that family from my circle of friends, if it were possible to do so without major offense or causing a scene. They sound kind of awful.

11. Don't get emotionally wrapped up in it.
This is their issue, not yours.

They seem to be in the batshit crazy category, and somehow convinced themselves that when we die and go to the pearly gates, the person passing judgment on our lives will be Santa. Fundie logic is kind of funny.

I'd sharpie my name right on the naughty list and display it proudly with my other cards.

:)

12. Write "Refused" on the outside of another envelope.
Put the card inside and mail it back to them. Very simple, very quick.

13. Send them a thank you card...
Express how it was thoughtful of them to provide their kids' political views for your perusal, but that you're going to go with more traditional "experts" to inform your opinions.

;)

15. In this context, very inappropriate...
But it's not always inappropriate...Inside political jokes with like-mined friends and family members are perfectly fine and can add levity and fun to holiday cards.

17. Send a note back to the parents and tell them that you found the card offensive
since you like President Obama and consider Sarah Palin an abomination. Ask them how they would have liked to receive a card from you with the opposite sentiments? Tell them that for the sake of the friendship of the children and in the spirit of the season, political divisiveness shouldn't be part of it.

There is no room for being nice anymore especially after what this nation has been through during this decade. It's time to slap this evil Grinch down every time it raises its head and the people who enable it.

18. I may be biased because virtually every religious school in my area is riduculously "conservative"
But honestly, I'm not surprised at all that kids going to a religious school have parents that would send such a card.

I wouldn't do anything, all it will do to respond is create bad blood and it's hard for some kids to find or make friends.

22. Friends are friends...
take it with a grain of salt and let it go.

We today live in a nasty society. There are no manners or social graces left. Expect the worst part of individual treatment from both strangers and friends.

Make your own life more pleasant and don't sweat the small stuff.

Even when confronted with the worst, try to live as graciously as possible. They will come down with ulcers etc. and you and yours will live better.

24. I would find the most religious card I could find with
Mary, Jesus, Joseph, the manger, the Star and send it back to them with the message that Christmas is a holiday of love and peace and Hope.

If you want to, you could replace Jesus's face with Obama to make your point even more clear.
