Why do *people* ~ flesh & blood "real people" support corporations and their wayward 'way'? |
|
It doesn't make any sense!
Sure, if you're own a lot of stock or you're getting a big CEO, CFO, COO salary...sure your want THAT. But it's only temporary. Corporations don't give ONE WHIT about *you*....only how they can USE *you* (b/c corporations are NOT 'persons') and corporations use real persons to achieve unholy goals, imo.

Corporations seem to be the root of all evil these days. It will be fun to observe how much further the USA travels down the road to outright fascism. We're all frogs swimming in the slowly boiling water. And we may all be slowly waking up to the fact that Corporate Fascism is already here and woven in to everything that affects our daily lives and the pursuit of happiness.

3. it's not an either or situation: support or anhiliate corps! |
|
you are painting it as either or
corps or no jobs
but with powerful unions, more pro-worker legislation, we can still have corps, but limit their power

4. A lot of allegedly real people aren't really that real. |

Particularly when you're dealing with the internet, as I'm sure all of you know.

6. We are heirarchical in our thinking. |
|
We evolved to seek status and to honor it, no matter how it's gained.
And too many of us are unable to see beyond that drive, deriving comfort from knowing our place even when it unambiguously threatens our survival.

Most corporations are just small businesses.
Corporations are only as good or bad as the people running them.

8. You can ask the same question about governments |
|
It's all about how government can use you. You're a consumer to one, and a tax payer to the other. Just a number on a spreadsheet to both. Neither one could survive without your support, and you have little choice in whether or not you're going to support them, as where are you going to go? Each is the same side of the same coin.

9. Because, in principle, they are not bad. |
|
As entities.
The people who run them and the decision they make - that can be a different story.
But, on a certain and mostly theoretical level, the structure is not a bad one.
Some corporations DO care.
But they all get "corporate personhood", whereas we don't. We should too.

15. Why do real people support corporate abuses? |
|
Could be 30 years of having Milton Friedman's supply side crap preached from the right. I'm still waiting for all that prosperity to start raining down on us from above. The suspense is killing me.
