Infamous sign at Auschwitz extermination camp stolen - possibly by Holocaust deniers.

The metal sign, at the entrance to the camp, said "Arbeit Macht Frei" - German for "Work Makes You Free." It was intended by the Nazis to deceive arrivals into thinking they would be kept alive for work - as slaves - when in fact they were headed to gas chambers.

It is being charged that Holocaust deniers are attempting to remove symbols of the Holocaust in order to erase the memory of what happened. Details at the link.

Is there some reason people at DU should NOT know that someone stole the sign at Auschwitz, which helps people know about the Holocaust? Who would be in favor of a cover up of what happened at Auschwitz? These sites are maintained as historical records so that people will never forget.
