GREAT Palin Joke On SNL Weekend Update
They were talking about the recent controversy involving Sarah Palin where she was photographed in Hawaii wearing a McCain-Palin sun visor with the McCain part of it blacked out by marker. She claimed she blacked out McCain's name because she was on vacation with her family and wanted to be inconspicuous (which, of course, adequately explains why she left the Palin part un-blocked out, right?)

Anyway, on SNL Weekend Update, the joke was this: "Sarah Palin was recently photographed wearing a McCain-Palin sun visor with John McCain's name blacked out. When asked for comment, Palin said she intended to black it ALL out, but halfway through...........she quit."

5. It was the one bright spot in an otherwise horribly unfunny SNL.

I've ridden the roller coaster of quality that SNL is for decades now, but we are at a real low point.

6. I couldn't make it past that band.
The digital short was amusing but you are correct, it was horrible last night.

7. Yeah. What was with the crap about parodizing talk shows on two different "ethnic" channels
(BET and, I think, Telemundo) by implying that there was very little talk and a whole lot of dancing around for no damn reason? TWO DIFFERENT SKETCHES using the same joke of nothing much happening on a talk show because there was too much DANCING! And then they do "Weekend Update" and they have DANCING on that! And then, of course, they had to have another one of those sketches about the family that embarrasses strangers brought into their midst by French-kissing and feeling each other up at every opportunity and calling it "family affection." And what EVER gave them the idea to parodize a supposed Vincent Price Christmas special from 1954? Oh yeah, and anything that has senseless bloody violence in it is funny, right?

The worst thing about SNL, though, is the way so many of their sketches (and the ones they bring back in various forms) are completely one-note jokes: "Family members kiss and fondle each other sexually in front of strangers." "Christmas-tree seller is in love with all his trees as if they were women, and hates to sell them away." "People on talk shows dance instead of actually talking." And they keep repeating the joke over and over again, the same way you can get a six-month-old baby to laugh if you keep doing the same silly thing over and over (because the baby's only half laughing at what you're doing and half laughing because it's so tickled at itself over being able to anticipate your doing the silly thing again). I know it's gotta be hard to write fresh comedy every week, but jeez...is that any excuse for replacing them with "EVERYONE DANCES AROUND STUPIDLY" and counting on getting another cheap laugh every time you have everyone dance around stupidly?

9. I recorded it & "watched" the whole show in less than 15 minutes
It is the WORST "comedy" show on tv,,ever..
The cast is so self-aware, and UN-funny, it's painful to watch..
