2008 Democratic Party Platform

"Choice

The Democratic party strongly and unequivocally support the Roe v. Wade and a woman's right to choose a safe and legal abortion, regardless of ability to pay, and we oppose any and all efforts to weaken or undermine that right."

Question: How does the health insurance plan, as passed, support this? Or was it all just lip service?

2. Read your own party's Charter and By-Laws
Edited on Sun Dec-20-09 06:57 AM by MSchreader
There is no provision that binds any candidate to adhere to the platform. The closest to that is in the By-Laws (Article Two, Section 1{h}{ii}), which limits the DNC to "promoting and encouraging ... the fulfillment by the Party of its platform pledge and other commitments". That's it. That's all you got.

Lip service? Your whole platform is lip service without a binding clause.

4. I reference it when responding to DNC, DSCC & DCCC $$ requests
"public option plan" is on p. 10..."choice" on p. 50...

Yes, sadly, it's all lip service.
