4. It's 40lbs of poop in a 20lb sack
Twitter forces everyone else to be concise. It makes Sarah an alphabetic serial killer.

5. "Change for ions!" There's a slogan I can get behind
Don't you realise how many ions are deficient in electrons? While others have more than enough to go around! It's a disgrace!

8. It Took Me Three Times Reading That For It To Make Any Sense.
Sadly, I don't think that's due to Sarah Palin's illiteracy. I think that's how people "talk" on that twitter thing. I guess I'm just a grumpy old man, but I find it deplorable that people can't write correctly anymore. Even when I text, I don't use things like "R" instead of "are" or "2" instead of "to", and I hate it when people do.

If you haven't got the time to write properly, pick up the phone and talk to someone. If you're writing a message to many people, you should take the time to write clearly and correctly.

In related news, GET OFF MY LAWN!

19. Well, I WAS an English Major
Edited on Sun Dec-20-09 02:17 PM by Toasterlad
I'm supposedly trained in making sense out of the English language.

For what it's worth, here's the English translation of the Palinspeak:

Eath saw climate change for eons, and will continue to see changes. Our duty to responsibly develop resources for humankind compels us to not pollute or destroy, but we can't alter natural change.

Not that that makes a whole lot more sense, actually.

on edit: Silly me...I didn't realize that the brackets I was using to highlight my corrections were being interepreted by HTML as "remove this". I've changed them to bold. That's what I get for not previewing. Sarah Palin's got nothin' on me!

18. Uh-uh
She's dumb as dryer lint. Annoying as it may be, there really are syntactical conventions in innernetspeek. As SidDithers says above, she's doing it wrong. She's aping what she doesn't understand, like playing piano with her elbows and thinking it's "jazz".

21. Translation:
"Earth saw climate change for generations, will continue to see changes. It's our duty to responsibly develop resources for humankind and not pollute and destroy, but we can't alter natural change."

She could have used more than one tweet and made it more comprehensible, but nonetheless it can be translated. Of course, the result in actual English is just the old denialist talking point.

28. Not just insignificant
It's arrogant to think that we can affect climate cycles. If you're not a denier, you've likened human ability to God's.

32. It's boilerplate among rightwing Christians
If you get in a "debate" with one of those nutters, you'll hear it right off.

Even Rush uses it. It probably works great for shutting down Christians who aren't deniers.
