Silver Lining....if the medical reform bill passes... |
|
... I'll freely admit that I don't like this bill because I'm not at all sure it will be a net gain.
I fail to see now it will control costs and controlling costs isn't everything, it is the only thing.
That said, there is one aspect of this I will enjoy. I will enjoy rubbing "elections have consequences" in the faces of idiot Republicans.

2. I don't like this bill. |

.... on its merits, but Republicans don't like it because Democrats want it.
Too bad, this is your payback for 8 years of moron rule.

3. In this case, the consequence will probably be more Republicans |

elected to Congress. They couldn't pay for a line as good as "the government is going to fine you for not buying health insurance."

5. There are no reforms in this bill... |
|
insurance companies and big pharma now can do what they will. Which one will be the first Enron of the health care lobby?
Kill this bill.

... I tend to agree with you, I'm opposed to the passage of this legislation for sure.
But I'm trying to find the silver lining, and pissing off Republicans is at least something. Let them know how I felt for 8 long years.

7. Legislation has consequences too. |
|
And this bill, if it passes, will be a disaster for the Democratic Party. Polls show a majority of Americans oppose the individual mandate. This is a terrible piece of legislation, and the Democratic Party will (rightly) be punished for it by the electorate if it passes.
Kill the bill. Forcing people to buy insurance is no more the answer to a failed health care system than forcing people to buy houses is the solution to homelessness.

11. Me too. The mandate will crush the uninsured middle class. It's insane. |

8. This is not the New Deal, but the Raw Deal |
|
if it had the elements that we need, we'd see more support for it here.
Those elements have been stripped, and this bill needs to be fixed before we move out of the Senate.
