That the Policy I have to buy is leveraged in the same manner as the Largest American Corporation. The Government should have enough purchasing power to get either the same rates or lower as, say IBM or GM. I am fairly certain that these companies get cheaper rates than Joe's Garage. Since we are being forced to buy, the very least the Government can do is make sure we get the very best deal...Does anyone know if there is any framework in the Bill to address this issue? There should be no excuse for anyone in America getting cheaper Insurance than those of us forced by the Government into buying.. NONE

1. "groups" get lower rates due to the dilution of risk.
so if we put everyone not currently insured in one "group," shouldn't that lower rates considerably*?

*assuming that making it affordable is even a goal. gotta ensure that huge profit margin, dontchaknow.

4. I hear I'm going to be fined $750.00 a year
FAAAARRRRR cheaper than what I'd be mandated to buy being over 50 and female which, according to this Congress, IS a precondition.

5. LOL! Big corporations create a self-insurance layer first.
Just like we should have with a single payer program. Then they purchase a catastrophic layer on top of that with very low rates.

7. Can The American Public Get Together Without The Government And Become Self Insured Like ......
the companies do? I know - it's a stupid question - but I thought I'd ask it anyway.

10. Well, I think any group that's large enough could -
Maybe a state, because it'd be only those people who don't already have insurance. The problem there is that it would have a pretty high risk modifier because that group would probably have lots of elderly, or young women or pre-existing conditions.

The lowest possible rate comes from creating the largest possible group. In our case, that would be the entire US population. That's as big as it gets right now. If we had all banded together and demanded a single payer "layer", then the wealthy could have purchased anything they wanted on top of that. The lower-incomes would have coverage at the lowest-possible rate.

But no, we have this craptacular insurance co bailout that will suck unending supplies of money forever. It's like creating a black hole - once it's done, it's for good.

about removing the penalty for being uninsured. This penalty is a violation of our civil liberties. You should not be made a criminal for not being able to afford to buy into the health insurance cartel.

8. That's the purpose of the insurance exchanges
Create large state, regional, and possibly national buying entities with govt oversight. Legislate the requirements of 3 tiers of plans. Subsidize families with incomes up to $88,000 and singles up to $45,000. In order to eliminate pre-existing condition requirements, everybody has to pay into the system.

You so funny. Little people got no clout.
