The health care disappointment bill tells me
that we need a STRONGER Democratic majority in Congress. Democrats and Democratic leaning Indys need to carefully think about the consequences if they choose to sit out the 2010 elections. IMHO, the only reason we do not have single payer or public option is our lack of a super majority in the Senate. Our objective should be 100% to get out the 2010 and 2012 vote, with the goal of improving this bill and pushing through other progressive bills, not whine and give up. We've fought like hell to get this far and it is no time to call it quits.

2. That too.
But if we had more, and definitely more progressive, Democrats we wouldn't need to pander to the DINOs.

4. 60 is an arbitrary number
Dems like Reid and now Obama use the "we need 60 votes" as cover for their corporate, criminal allegiances. NOWHERE IN THE CONSTITUTION is it written that filibusters need to be overridden with 60 votes. There is no similar House rule. It would be easy to change the rule to a simply majority vote to bring cloture.

However, that would put more of the political power in the hands of the people and Reid and the rest of the scum sucking corporate whores, of which several are democrats, would not be able to hang the entire failure of our political system on a single dumb ass like Lieberman.

So if we want change, yes elect more progressive dems--but at the expensive of the Reids, and Bayhs and Landrieus. The dems need to clean their own house first and then do away with the fake 60 vote rule.

9. The Repukes threatened to do that when they ruled
the Senate. Too bad they didn't go ahead. But yeah we should just do whatever it takes to promote the progressive agenda.

6. Definitely!
My point is that we shouldn't shut down, whine, suck our thumbs, and stay home in 2010. This is what the "polls" and Repukes are saying is going to happen. I say we call bull shit on them.

7. We need to replace Dem Senators that have been bought and paid for by
big business and corporations. The Senate needs a cleaning, a thorough one! Many Senators have been there far too long and their only priority is now to keep their position of power and wealth so they bend over for their corporate masters in everything they do.
We need to vote their asses out of office as soon as possible!
