3. Just out of curiosity
do you understand that insured people don't get treatment because they can't afford it, don't you?

14. well- they're supposed to start in 2014-
but there are plenty of chances and elections for repugs to change that before now and then.

they will.

4. We won't see them, but it won't be because we don't need them anymore,
it will be because the discussion will go back to whether the rich are getting all the need and deserve instead of healthcare for poor.

You are very young and naive if you think this bill is going to reduce the need dramatically. Most who can't afford insurance now aren't going to be able to afford it under this bill either from what I'm seeing.

15. i'm neither young nor naive...

5. The only way to get 'free' medical care...
is to pass a Single-Payer National Health Plan. Of course it isn't really free, but it frees the people from having to choose between food/roof/transportation/education and medical care/prescription meds.

We pay taxes to have good roads plus all the other civilized items we use daily in our lives. Worth a few tax dollars if our present patchwork quilt medical system were available to all when needed.

Kill this bill.

6. I use the same analogy all the time.
Health care should be an amenity as ubiquitous as streets and highways.

25. using the term 'free' healthcare to describe single-payer is dumb, and does a great disservice...
it isn't free, and using the term only gives the right ammunition to use against it and us- "free healthcare- them libs don't want to pay for anything- they just want other people to" -and so on.

btw- as far as i know- the healthcare provided by the organizations in those pics IS free to the patients- so you appear to be mistaken about "The only way to get 'free' medical care..."

9. So we should continue to allow people to die without coverage
....because the insurance companies weren't put out of business by this bill - is that what you're saying?

...and are dying without it.

What was on your mind when you posted that?

20. I'm as pro-health care as anybody. Not pro-insurance company.
That is all I was saying.

The bill passed the point where it was worth passing. If it was twice as shitty as it is now not passing it would still adversely effect someone. Passing it, however, will adversely effect many more, not the least of whom are the future generations that will have to obtain their health care in what will likely become a monopolistic system.

Please think of the unborn babies!

16. people WILL continue to die, and they will also go bankrupt
and hungry - because Corporate Welfare is FAR more important than providing low cost health CARE.

One sad fact -- those who wind up going to jail because they cannot pay the fines will finally have healthcare.

You must've seen the post by grantcart - this bill has some controls in it that should allow for price controls and competition.

19. Pictures are a great reminder.
Someone should send them to Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid. Don't bother with President Obama. I'm sure Rahm Emmanuel will make sure he never sees them. After all this plan is the one brother Dr. Ezekiel Emmanuel has endorsed.

I tried to recommend but apparently one of the unrec trolls cancelled it out. :-(

If it is the latter, then how will it help them receive medical treatment?

It's not a total give-away to insurance companies at least.
