2. That's exactly
That's exactly what I was going to ask, but I didn't want to sound too crash.

That info will probably be out pretty soon. But her husband was a little sketchy I believe, and there's been speculation about drugs and an ED in the past.

5. Sounds likely
Sounds likely. Hopefully with so many big-name deaths caused by prescription drugs, the doctors who are handing them out like candy will start getting some heat. Drugs aren't to be taken like candy, prescription or not. And sadly, when non-famous people die of this, it's pushed under the rug.

146. ironically I ripped out a pic this morning about 4am out of Us Weekly
which I canceled because I can't stand them, thinking she was way too thin. But they don't go into sudden death 4-5 hours later.... I'm on Ritalin LA which has such a black box warning.

if one takes a look on pix here (the latest ones) http://www.bombgirls.info/Brittany_Murphy or just change that to lazygirls.info in the middle, bombgirls is for us uncensored people... she's looking thin below the waist.

Hate the fucking rumor mill though. which indeed up above says drugs... to the hubby gave her drugs to suicide to idiots on imdb.com claiming to be in the shower with her when she died. Souless pricks those comments are.

All I know is this nice cute angel is dead and the rumor mill is going(including the latest that the husband doesn't want an autopsy, which anyone who watches CSI... knows, it's the law, it must be done.) I will attest if that husband did actually cause her death, he's in a world of hate.

was removed from her home said, her face was covered with a mask, but from what she saw she looked like an old woman.
That sounds like anorexia.

7. I especially remember her as
the voice of Luanne on "King of the Hill." How very sad.

It seems likely that it could be drug related. Although, people younger than that have died of various heart ailments both diagnosed and undiagnosed so it can't be immediately ruled out.

16. I know of a 20 year old who blew out a third of her heart muscle
smoking a cigarette. She was healthy, drug free, and had clean coronary arteries. The nicotine caused a spasm just as a clump of blood cells was moving through and she had a massive heart attack.

It's highly unusual for this to happen in the young, but it's certainly not unheard of.

Sympathy to her family, especially her husband.

This is very sad and this is an industry that forces young women to be ten pounds underweight for the camera. However, we are just speculating until the coroner's report comes out.

And as far as the speculators go? Sometimes young people do die of things other than drugs and eating disorders. Granted, in Hollywood these things usually end up being tragedies, but can we wait for the body to get cold?9

Very funny ensemble movie, mocumentary style, about love and intersecting relationships.

TMZ also reported that her husband was rushed to the hospital only a few weeks ago straight from a flight from Puerto Rico. People thought it was strange that she didn't want the paramedics to take him and the rumors were it was all about drugs. That seems to be the grist of the rumor mill here too.

Very sad.

So far I'll just say it was cardiac arrest, but I'd rather not guess what caused it. However, it's a fact that Michael Jackson died of cardiac arrest, and he was getting anorexic and had drug problems before he died. The only Murphy film I've seen was 8 Mile, but I watched that because I'm an Eminem fan.

99. Actress Brittany Murphy, 32, dead from cardiac arrest
Edited on Sun Dec-20-09 04:02 PM by Kerrytravelers
http://www.tmz.com/

Brittany Murphy died early this morning after she went into full cardiac arrest and could not be revived, multiple sources tell TMZ.

She was 32.

A 911 call was made at 8:00 AM from a home in Los Angeles that is listed as belonging to her husband, Simon Monjack, the Los Angeles City Fire Department tells TMZ.

UPDATE 3:11 PM ET -- Sources tell TMZ Brittany Murphy's mom discovered her unconscious in the shower. We're told when paramedics arrived, they quickly determined Murphy was in full cardiac arrest and immediately administered CPR. They continued CPR in route to Cedars-Sinai Medical Center -- several miles away -- and Murphy was unresponsive. She was pronounced dead at the hospital.

We're told the LA County Coroner's is picking up Murphy's body from Cedars later today and will launch an investigation.

A friend of mine worked with her recently. He and his wife, who also met with her, are so sad about this. They called to tell me. (I do not know her.) And then I found this on TMZ.

You made me think of a strange (unrelated) scenario. There were already a couple threads on this combined here: http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=389x7281629 - would/could mods combine a thread into an ignored user's already existent thread? Would it just appear to have been deleted to the user whose thread becomes the "child" to a parent thread started by an ignored user?

I have to image that happens at times, right? It'd be easy to "dupe" when you're ignoring someone or many someones.

150. Gee. I don't know how that would work.
I'm not ignoring anyone, so my thread was easily combined.

Generally, we don't mind dupes, except in LBN, so I honestly don't deal with combining very often (I'm in Lounge and Political Videos.)

I would think that we could combine two threads of users who had one another on ignore. Since the action is coming from someone other than the two members who are ignoring one another, I don't think the move would be rejected by the program.

In terms of how it would look to the two DUers themselves, just the posts written by the ignored member would be blank. All the other posts would show up just fine, I would assume.

I am not a techie, in terms of formatting and functioning on computers. I just click the little button and it goes *poof* and magical things happen!

121. This happens, which is why the moderators have an option to combine threads.
Since GD is not my assigned forum, I am not comfortable combining my thread. I'll let the GD mods take care of that. I alerted on my own OP, and when the forum mods get to my alert, they'll take action. When you see duplicate topics, go ahead and just alert. It's no big deal. Responding just kicks the thread and doesn't get the attention of the moderators (ok, it did this time because it is my thread, but normally, you can't reply of this to get the moderators' attention. Alert is your friend!)

Or, you could just click that little "x" next to the thread. Before I was a mod, I did this all the time on topics that didn't interest me.

... it is hell to get through sometimes, even if the topic is totally interesting!

I usually take the opportunity, when it arises, to lay out some housekeeping options, like alerting, combining, etc.

145. Too wierd. A class mate of my daughter had the same name. Died at 21.
I was thinking of her today... and now this.

151. How sad. Twenty-one is way too young to die.

Take a look at the wall where you can leave a message. People are not paying attention and writing as if this young lady is the actress Brittany Murphy.

160. I saw that... people mistaking her for the Brittany who died today.
I would think that would be hard on the family.
People leaving messages, not ever taking the time to read about
the Brittany who the memorial page was intended for.
I remember her well, a very talented artist and a beautiful girl.

I have to tell you, I was totally freaked out that
the actress of the same name died today at such a young age also.

I had been thinking about the other Brittany today, just a year older than
my daughter, wondering how in the hell a family gets through the holidays
with such a loss...

To both, who share the same name and the fate of dying much too young;
Rest in Peace.

149. She'd just been fired from a movie for disruptive behavior about 3 weeks ago
Judging from that, and her vowing to wreak havoc on the set after being fired, sounds like drugs.

152. Natural causes...
according to this latest release, M.E. thinks she died of natural causes; autopsy planned.

At 32, that sounds really strange, but of course as I said in an earlier post, it was probably some kind of heart defect. Poor dear, such a shame.

154. Nah, things here are too strange.....her husband was hospitalized a few weeks ago
after a flight and Brittany didn't even want to call 911 though he was unconscious? That sounds familiar to what's happening here with her husband not wanting an autopsy?? They're hiding something.

Scroll down there at TMZ to read their strange past couple of weeks. Too many strange circumstances to be "natural causes" here.

156. When my brother-in-law was 33, he died of cardiac arrest.
He died at home, early in the morning, with his wife and children there. It was tragic. And completely unexpected. Due to his age and the circumstance of dying at home, the San Diego ME required an autopsy, which no one in the family objected to, as we all wanted to know what happened, too. It turns out, he had an enlarged heart and no one ever knew. It was ruled a natural cause.

161. So tragic
Sorry for your loss. Things like that indeed frighten me how someone apparently in the prime of their life, fit, young, and healthy, can have a ticking time bomb in their chest that no one knows about. I remember hearing on the news a few years ago about a 12 year old boy scout dropping dead in his tracks at a summer camp or something to that effect. He too had an undiagnosed heart defect.

No matter how young and healthy and skinny you may be or feel, it is always pinnacle to be mindful of your body and subtle warning signs (although, sadly, sometimes even this isn't even possible)

162. You are so correct.
Since the death of his brother, Mr. kt has been very mindful of his health. After the death, he went to our doctor, who ran a whole battery of tests on his heart, etc., just to be sure and for Mr. kt's peace of mind.

And even with all this, you just never know. It is terribly sad. And if she did take too many prescription pills, wasn't eating properly or any number of things, the family will forever blame themselves for not stopping her, even though she is an adult and can do as she chooses. We often feel that way about my brother-in-law. He wouldn't go to a doctor for even the most routine check up. And now look. A 29 year old widow and three kids without their daddy.
