Obviously repealing NAFTA would put us in a better position for that, but direct & immediate action is needed. People don't care about policy - they want to see change in their daily lives.

Which at this point could only happen if Obama keeps his promise to reject this shit bill, and tells them to get it right. And obviously anyone who heard Axelrod this morning knows that's not likely.

Edited on Sun Dec-20-09 02:36 PM by polichick
But a populist uprising with a presidential primary challenger and populist candidates across the board could save the party.

(That's a "could" - imo saving the party is a long shot.)

30. Force financial institutions to be incorporated in one state only.
That's the way the banks used to be. They could only be chartered in one state and operate branches there under state as well as federal regulations and no where else. Break up the 2BGITOFAIL cartel. Also, make insurances public non-profit utilities. That would take care of another big problem.

How can you win a war based on nothing? You know what? Fuck it! Declare victory! Since the wars have no reality principle, why the fuck not?

42. if you randomly stopped ten people on the street and asked them the following three questions
1. What does NAFTA stand for
2.What is NAFTA.
3. Do you think NAFTA is a good or bad thing.

what do you think the answers would be? My guess: 9 out of ten (or ten out of ten) would say "I don't know" to all three.

So I doubt making NAFTA repeal an issue is going to have any impact other than to make most people go "Huh"?

45. SCALPS--Rahm and the economic team should be fired. Lieberman stripped of his chairmanship
and Obama must publicly apologize for giving so much power to those who don't have the best interests of the American people at heart.

Going corporate whore on one or two issues and having a couple of DLCers in his cabinet would be forgivable if there were some progressives in the cabinet and one progressive issue he fought for without compromise.

Neither of those have happened.
