Better than nothing
That's what it has come to.

Better than nothing.

And even that may not be true.

But bygawd, we got us a bill there, yessiree. We got 'er done. Maybe we got us a Secretary of Git 'er Done.

And we're being told that it can get fixed in conference. Or in reconciliation. Or by some other obscure machination only the smart people know about. This will be led by the Secretary of Fixit.

And the Secretary of Crowing will be crowing about how we did this fer American People.

Better than nothing.

Such a high bar that is, huh?

16. Idi Amin is much scarier than Sarah Palin.
Palin, for all her faults, does not eat her political rivals.

4. Welcome to the real world
About 80% of the legislation passed by your party will be "better than nothing". The other 20% is slightly better.

6. We were talking about reconciliation back in August for gods sake - let's not act surprised here
Can we at least admit that we're not surprised that it turned out this way?

9. That's freely admitted
Can we at least **all** acknowledge there's no lipstick that can be put on this pig?

12. Even Dean said that lipstick can be put on this pig
So, I don't know what to tell you. I'm still mystified by the lack of objection from the likes of Greyson, Mrs Kennedy, Weiner, Franken, Sanders & many others.

8. They just want to pretend that they have accomplished something.
It has become replacement for actually spending political capital, you waste it!

15. Fix it? Is this anything like fixing FISA like they said he would as soon as he got elected?
Edited on Sun Dec-20-09 08:07 PM by Xicano
Besides, when a wreck is a total wreck the only way of "fixing" it is to melt it down and start over.

Jesus H'Christ, fix it - sigh!

17. I'd say this is worse than nothing
Thanks to the provision that allows the crooks to sell across state lines. They'll soon be flocking to whatever state has the fewest regulations and mandates (and the majority of mandates are for conditions more common to or exclusive to women and children).

Just like what happened with the credit card companies moving to South Dakota with its lax usury laws.

18. Is that why all my banks are based in SD now?
It's hard to keep track of where they're based sometimes, though the "why" guessing games can help pass the time.

19. Yup
I don't know quite how they pull it off - you'll notice their corporate executives haven't all moved to Sioux Falls or Rapid City.

20. It's not better than nothing, it's worse. With nothing, at least I don't get charged for what I'll
never be able to use. With this piece of shit bill, I WILL get charged for what I'll never be able to use. Either way I have no health care, but before, nothing at least didn't cost me anything.

Their only selling point is "we're not the republicans".
