White House: 'Reality' will 'trump polls'
White House: 'Reality' will 'trump polls'

WASHINGTON, Dec. 20 (UPI) -- "Reality" will "trump poll numbers in the dead of winter" indicating public skepticism about U.S. healthcare reform, a top White House official said Sunday.

Appearing on ABC's "This Week with George Stephanopoulos, Senior White House Adviser David Axelrod was asked about an ABC News/Washington Post poll indicating 53 percent of the public think their healthcare costs will go up under the legislation being debated in Congress and 55 percent think costs will rise for the healthcare system overall -- while just 37 percent think the quality of care will improve for them.

Axelrod said "when people see what actually happens" after reform, those with insurance will be "more secure in their relationship with their insurance company, their costs are going to go down." He said Americans who are without insurance now will be able to get it "at a price they can afford" and the measure would reduce the federal deficit and "extend the life of Medicare."

"So the reality I think will trump polls numbers in the dead of winter as this debate is going on," Axelrod said.

1. Reality is that people will despise being fucked over by insurance companies
There are no cost controls, and the insurance that the uninsured have access to is shitty and overpriced.

10. I suspect that they are right. This bill will benefit many people, but
not all. Does it benefit the insurance companies? Yes. Does it benefit normal Americans. Yes, in many cases.

The caps on how much people will have to pay, the subsidies, and other measures will affect many people positively.

How much and how many remains to be seen. Time will tell the story.

Of course, we don't actually know what will be in the bill that comes out of conference yet. There will be changes. I'm not sure what they will be, and nobody really knows at this point.

Whatever happens, though, many people will benefit in some way. Some will not. The balance between the two will tell the tale in the end.

Recommended.
