I support Ben Nelson's deal

Now I should say off the bat that I have never been happy about Nelson's resistance to the public option and his hangups over abortion stipulations.

However, I do not consider Nelson's deal a "pay-off" or anything like that. Nelson got for his state what every state in the union should have. I am not going to come down on him for getting a payoff or any of that.

Some conservatives have said on message boards "Now every poor, sick person is going to pack their bags and move to Nebraska". Good! I would prefer if they could get the coverage they need in their home state, but at least they can go somewhere in the US and get it now.

These complaints about Nelson's deal are silly. Politics is politics. I'm happy Nelson got a deal like this rather than a deal that would have made the bill worse. Good for Senator Nelson.
