I don't think LBJ could have pushed Medicare through Congress if he had been President after Reagan because Reagan had persuaded the majority of voters that government could not be trusted. The Republicans were able to take the public option out of this health care bill because so many people are still under the misconception that corporations care more about them than the governemnt. One other thing LBJ had going for him was that there was no Fox news then.

6. Many people on Medicare
either do not understand that Medicare is a government program (hard to believe, but true) OR they don't understand that the government spends more on the average Medicare patient than the patient put into the system.

I think it is greedy and selfish on the part of my fellow Medicare recipients not to want other people to have what they have.
