Political and Economic Elites... |
|
this is a concept that people on DU, and Americans in general have to become familiar with.
Political and economic elites are less than 1% of any society, and they are the ones that control the accepted bounds of political discourse through the media, and other means. In some societies those other means include coercion and disappearing people in the middle of the day in broad daylight.
In the United States these elites use other means of control, apart of the media. They use fear, fear of the furiegner and the other. This includes the traditional fear of those who actually read a book or two. So right now what you all are seeing with Dean, and the elites accusing the activists of ahem, being latte drinking, educated (as in pointy headed intellectuals), is part of that control.
So it is time people learn these concepts and become very familiar with them. I know of them since where I grew this was Political Analysis 101, and even editorials in the paper use the term, POLITICAL ELITES... it is part of Poli-Sci as well, well time this becomes common currency, at least in a political website.
And yes, it is the height of Chutzpah when the TRUE ELITES called activists elites... they KNOW they can get away with it. Oh and here is news to DU... MOST Du'ers. whether they admit it or not, are NOT part of these elites. I am making an allowance for 1% of the membership, and I suspect that is high. Now self delusion is another story...
