Paul Krugman provides some perspective on the plight of those who saw Obama as a stronger progressive than he has thus far proven to be. Money quote:
http://krugman.blogs.nytimes.com/2009/12/20/the-wysiwyg-president/

"But back to Obama: the important thing to bear in mind is that this isn’t about him; and, equally important, it isn’t about you. If you’ve fallen out of love with a politician, well, so what? You should just keep working for the things you believe in."

It's a timely message for many of us.

1. Spot On...
Too many take the personalities over the issues...and then when that icon doesn't walk on water or breaks promises, it's like the scorn of a spurned lover. For those who are pissed. Good. Now to use that energy in a constructive way. Change only began with Obama's election...it's a work in progress that is even harder now since Democrats have such large majorities and constituencies and have to defend a record rather than attack it. It's allowed the rushpublicans and the corporate media to frame messages and the party and this administration weakened itself by poor coordination and message control.

Point is...walk away from the party or the political system now at your own peril. The rushpublicans will definitely be at the polls in 2010 and they've mastered making small elections go a long way.

2. No one wanted to listen when I pointed out that Obama wasn't a progressive.

People project what they want to see onto him a la the Nobel committee.

Still, I'm thrilled he beat McCain and have liked much of what he has done, but he's not what so many folks think he is.

5. Krugman is just trying to justify why he supported Hillary.

If there was no difference among them, how is can he claim that Obama was the least progressive?

Obama's health plan included catastrophic care coverage. Hillary wanted to garnish wages for her mandate. Obama's foreign policy was far more progressive.

6. The IRS garnishes wages.
Obama now supports the mandates he trashed Clinton for favoring. Obama had to lie to win votes. And he had to employ hate preachers to attack my community. Progressive? Hardly.

4. Of course...
Who would think otherwise? Would a single person prevent anybody from fighting for what they believe in?
