UNIONTOWN, Pa. -- Authorities in Fayette County are looking for the person who shot a deer at Woodlands Zoo.

According to police reports, someone shot a domestic 15-point white tail deer at the Wharton Township zoo.

The animal was inside an area surrounded by a 15-foot high fence when it was shot.

Police said the shooter left the animal in the pen and then fled the scene, possibly in a black Hummer.

4. Let's see, irresponsible gun play, Hummer, this post nearly has it all
If the shooter fled to Olive Garden, we'd have a trifecta of epic proportions.

11. This is just an attack on our sacred second amendment rights.
If caught, I hope the NRA will step up to protect this brave patriot.

12. this has happened
at a wildlife refuge up the street from me. Tall fences enclose the area and they have been killed just for "sport" because they are left there - no way for someone to get into the area and remove the animal.
Just sick.

14. This Kind of Thing is a True Mark of Shame for a Society
This society will not make any real progress until it is understood that violence, cruelty and a mean, generalized resentment against animals is on the same level of criminal seriousness--and often linked--as the same toward human victims, (not that it is taken seriously when the victims are women or girls, either). Cruelty, cruel "jokes," still get cheered on, laughed at, treated as "ballsy fighting back against tree-huggers," by a certain percentage of the population, and there are still no real penalties for this horror. There has to be a general societal backlash against it, and treating it as disgusting and shameful, standing up for the animal victims, clearly. This is always depressing and infuriating when it happens.
