Viagra/Cialis causing marital problems instead of solving them?

I just found out that a married couple that we know are having serious marital problems. They are older, in their mid-late 70s and have had a fine long marriage, until recently when the husband started taking Viagra or Cialis, I forget which one. I think it is Cialis. Now all of the sudden, he has become unfaithful, is seeing "call girls" and won't stop. What a shame. Is this common? Just "collateral damage" I guess for a multi-billion dollar industry marketing drugs to people who might not actually need them.

Just because there are a few fools who abuse it, as many do with other drugs like alcohol, doesn't mean everyone need be punished.

If a guy has erectile dysfunction he is going to be too embarrassed to look around for other women. In that case the pill is just liberating him so he can do something he has wanted to do for a while.

I suspect that's the case here.

I think my mother had the right idea. She said if she ever found evidence of my father paying for companionship, she'd take an equivalent amount out of the account and go on a spree.

Either that threat stopped my dad or he was very, very discreet. I found no evidence of paid (or unpaid) hanky panky after they were both gone.
