How about a law that you have to shovel that foot of snow on the roof of the Land Cruiser before you drive Biff and Muffy to the fucking mall?
I am amazed at how many people drive around with a "hat" on their cars and SUVs and then have it blow off on the Interstate when they're flying low at speeds north of V1 for a 757. I have had the pleasure of driving into one of those road avalanches. Fortunately it dropped just in front of me and I rolled over it. I can't imagine it hitting a windshield at that speed.

2. Not nannyism at all. It's a public safety hazard. |
|
I think some states do have laws about it too.

In some places at least that is already the law. The places where it is not yet law probably don't get enough snow for it to be an issue under normal circumstances.

He could have died because some lazy joker was too lazy to clean snow off car & it had turned to ice.

7. If I see that the car in front of me has a pile of snow on the roof, |
|
I back off so it won't hit my car. As for myself, I find that that a big push broom makes short work of clearing my car. Those little snow brushes are useless.

Pennsylvania enacted that law in the early '90s when we had a one month ice storm interspersed with some snow falls and people were getting killed when glaciers were hurtling off cars and trucks and smashing through peoples windshields. You don't have to tailgate for this to be a problem. In fact, at turnpike speeds you are probably safer tailgating, because then the mess flies over your car and kills the guy in back of you. I never understood why people drive with a couple hundred pounds of extra weight on top of their cars. Personally, I could never stand how the car felt wavering down the road steering like a double decker bus.

10. That's nothing - get behind an 18 wheeler with 18 inches of snow on the roof |
|
That shit tumbles off the roof for miles and miles - sometimes in massive chunks that can be quite dangerous.
