Christmas gift suggestions:
To your enemy, forgiveness. To an opponent, tolerance. To a friend, your heart. To a customer, service. To all, charity. To every child, a good example. To yourself, respect.

1. thanks Bobbolink..
I really like this quote.

I'd add mercy and compassion to that- for everyone... including/especially ourselves.

4. Wonderful additions! Mahalo!
Yes, especially for ourselves.... some of us homeless people are thinking a lot about this right now... the need for R-E-S-P-E-C-T.

And claiming it for ourselves.

5. Thank you for that gift of kindness!
I've thought for a lot of years now that many years ago (think Waltons), there was a time when people received gifts as....gifts. When anything they got was valued, because life was a struggle.

Now there is so much affluence that it has gone over the ridiculous meter. What we are most in need of is the gifts the author listed.

7. I couldn't agree more....
I don't participate in the holiday gift craziness, thank goodness. THAT in and of itself is a gift to ME!

A genuine smile and a heartfelt hug can go a long, long way. It's a start, at least.

Ah, a dear friend posted a blog entry that pertains to this. You may appreciate it as well. :)

I've often said that perhaps the most profound gift I can give another is to believe in them when they no longer believe in themselves.

This post conveys this sentiment nicely.

More warm hugs sent your way!!!

12. The Most Profound Gift
"I've often said that perhaps the most profound gift I can give another is to believe in them when they no longer believe in themselves."

That is a profound insight!

We homeless people are pounded down at every opportunity, from all directions, and most of us end up with very little sense of self left. Just seeing how seldom poverty and homelessness is taken seriously pounds us down. Being told we are worth something is, indeed, a profound gift!

It's sad that it is a gift so seldom given.

I thank you for this gift. :yourock:

8. What great sentiments!
BTW, I may have to write that down on a card an keep it in my wallet. It would double as an excellent toast!

Cheers! :toast:
