Senator Lindsey Graham Lists African-Americans as a Problem in His State
Lindsey Graham was speaking on the subject of health care and might have made a slight mistake. The Republican from South Carolina discussed the problems in the health care bill and what his state is facing moving forward. Graham is worried that more and more people are going to be covered under Medicaid and that might completely cripple his state. Graham then began to list the issues he is currently facing:
"I have 12 percent unemployment in South Carolina, my states on it's knees. I have 31 percent African-American population in South Carolina."

Graham did not elaborate on his statement regarding the number of black citizens in his state. I am guessing he wanted to illustrate a problem without giving any kind of reasoning.

1. Poverty, minorities and youth almost always overlap when you look at data
for certain geographic areas, so there is some factual basis for his point. But it was still a weird thing to say without further back up.

6. With that high a black population you'd really think we could get a Democratic Senator. What % of SC
Whites vote for Dems? 2?

5. Unfortunately, Graham Cracker is the more moderate of the two SC senators.
Jim DeMint (Dim-Wit) is just bat-shit, right-wing, Bo-Jo (Bob Jones U.) crazy. They are both racist to the core. I speak as an oppressed constituent of these two radical obstructionists.

11. With a 31 % black population S.C. could go blue
add in all 132 liberal white dems, the teachers, the gays, the union vote, the student vote, the jewish vote,
and the hispanic vote it will be tough to keep the state red over the next 10 years.

Although vote rigging and stuff might be in play S.C.

BTW western S.C. in the mountains is very nice.

12. giving the benefit of the doubt
The unemployment rate for blacks is much higher than the average, so if he was saying it in the context of unemployment it could be construed as an appeal for special help for a segment of the population disproportionately affected by unemployment.
