Sarah Palin did not lie! (At least this once.)
This is the FaceBook statement that has won Sarah Palin the lie of the year award:
The America I know and love is not one in which my parents or my baby with Down Syndrome will have to stand in front of Obama's "death panel" so his bureaucrats can decide, based on a subjective judgment of their "level of productivity in society," whether they are worthy of health care. Such a system is downright evil.

The quote is taken out of context. They leave off the part I underlined. If you include it, then nobody here could disagree with that statement.

Yes, I know what she implied, I'm not THAT stupid. But if you parse what's written there, it is a true statement. (I wonder if she'll think to point that out.)

3. OK, by defending my post I put myself in the unenviable position of...
defending Sarah Palin. But I'm just defending my parsing of her statement, let's get that clear.

She would say, "I love the one I know." Shit, it's got tour buses and book advances and snow machines, you betcha.

she loves the America she knows.

6. Yep, she's gotta be loving it...
Lots of money, no responsibilities, adoring crowds. She's having a hooker's wet dream.

2. Using her baby with Down Syndrome as a device with which to
try and score political points. Just like she did during the campaign. The woman has no shame, no compassion for her own baby.

5. Yes. It's a horrible statement, but...
All I'm saying is that the way it's constructed, that statement not a lie. Otherwise, Sarah Palin is a total piece of shit.

7. Show me where "Obama's Death Panels" exist...
The whole statement hinges on that one absolute fantasy, Obama's Death Panels. There were no Obamanian Death Panels; none, zero, nada. She erected a strawman falsehood inorder to make a statement about it and you want to parse an absolute lack of fact as truthful? A limiting phrase at the beginning of her stsatement does not make it truth since it is devoid of fact, reason, or reality.

8. Exactly. "Obama's death panel" is the lie.
It's fairly simple.

9. That's the beauty. She says they don't exist.
She never actually says they exist. She allows you to make the inference. My point is that I am taking special notice of phrase construction these days, twisting, spinning.

10. The lie was the possibility that anyone will ever stand in front of Obama's "Death Panel"
so his bureaucrats can decide, based on a subjective judgment of their "level of productivity in society,

the context matters not

I may as well say, the America I love is not the one where Santa is dragged out of his sleigh and prosecuted as an illegal alien.

Neither Obama's Death panels nor Santa will ever exist.

16. Where did I defend her?
Nuance eludes you. I'm just parsing the language. My original post and responses have plenty of cues that I'm not here to defend her.

I submit your response does not contribute to the "worthiness" of "this place" at all. Fortunately, you didn't spoil my fun. :)
