Anyone else see Mary Landrieu on Washington Journal this morning?
Is it me, or does she come off as particularly snide and nasty?

2. I did not see her on that program.
But I think "snide and nasty" would be an accurate description of other appearances I have seen.

I do not care for her one bit.

3. To be fair
When you can command hundreds of millions of dollars for your vote, and no one really bothers saying "Wait, this is really, terribly wrong," it's pretty easy to feel invincible entitlement.

Her interview pretty much screamed "What are you going to do, elect someone else? Pfft, try it, peons."

7. I almost admire her, though
I mean, most politicians at least pay lip service to being a servant of the people.

It's not too often you see a politician approach the microphone with their Bond Villain persona.

She delivered nicely, I thought.

13. Am I wrong or what? But I don't ever recall seeing her
speaking on behalf of HC prior to last week.

All those months of 'negotiations' I never saw her out in public defending her position. Now that the dust has cleared for her, she's out there acting all high and mighty.

I guess after extorting nearly 46 billion, they must've told her to go out and sell 'it'.

I didn't see her this morning, but I saw the stunt she pulled last week on Hardball in her pious snit with Gov. Dean - you know, her version of selling 'it'.

And given what we've gone through, we need a senator who can do that.

money doesn't "always" get to where we think it will, does it?

this woman thinks you, me and anyone else wanting universal health care doesn't deserve it - at taxpayer expense that is.

so what do you think someone like her will do with all that taxpayer money?

23. Due respect, what she says on television isn't a reflection of what she really thinks
You have to live here to truly understand how delusional and conservative the people here really are. In order to get 51% in this state, you have to win the votes of a certain number of people who fear "socialized medicine" and other such nonsense. That's the cold hard reality of the situation. In fact, David Vitter's constituency pretty much consists entirely of those people.

Mary Landrieu's constituency also includes poor people and she does stick up for them to the extent that she can and still keep the votes of enough conservatives to win. This video is a good example. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cczkwpmaovU

Landrieu is, at the end of the day, a politician just like any other. She just represents a state with very screwed up politics.

....there is a majority of Democrats who're elected to run our state legislature....yet once they get elected they decide to rule like republicans....yet THE PEOPLE continue to get blamed for how screwed up politics is...we keep losing even when we win with the DINO's...THAT is the cold hard reality of the situation. :nopity:

I hate to break it to you but this state is conservative. The fact that our legislature is still Democratic (and only marginally) is a holdover from the Jim Crow days.

36. Why don't you worry about your own state and I'll worry about mine, then
I don't take very kindly to people who don't know anything about Louisiana politics and issues telling me that I should prefer a Republican to Mary Landrieu. Senators do far more than work on the big issues that make cable news and the big national newspapers. On the local issues that really affect Louisiana residents she does very important work that you don't read about because you're from Georgia. If you didn't experience Katrina and its aftermath and you don't follow Louisiana issues and thus you can't possibly understand the extent of what Mary Landrieu does.

35. No they wouldn't actually
David Duke (besides being an overt racist nutjob) is a Ron Paul anti-neocon type of Republican and not the type that they prefer these days.

Jim Crow was an expression to refer to the era of the "solid south" when everybody voted Democratic and those Democrats were far from liberal. The state legislature will go Republican soon enough, just as the Governor's mansion went to "Bobby" Jindal who scores political points by rejecting stimulus money.

The state hasn't elected anybody "progressive" by any stretch of the imagination since Huey Long. And that was long before social issues were on the agenda.

She's way too snotty for someone who just lined their pockets for their next run for reelection to their office.
