Compromise means sometimes you get only half a loaf... |
|
but not just the folded over, torn end-piece of the loaf. The Senate's HCR bill is not "compromise"--it's a travesty. That is all.

1. Lately, it seems it means bending over to facilitate getting loafed |
|
by privately paid 'public' representatives and their real bosses.

2. This loaf of bread is all that and more. |
|
It has that old bread smell.
When it gets that bad I throw it out to the birds.
We could have had a fresh loaf bread, plenty for everybody.
Now a lot of people will be going hungry.

3. It's a luke-warm bowl of spoiled milk..with sprinkles |
|
Why are there no massive protests FOR the plan? People don't protest for frozen vanilla yogurt.

We were led to believe that there would be a sundae.
With three flavors of ice cream..real ice cream..and there would be chocolate sauce, whipped cream, strawberries, and maybe even a sliced banana at the bottom.
We've been promised this sundae for a long time..you might say we have craved it......and it has never come to pass. Not everyone will want the sundae, but millions do. Some have never had a sundae.
We've seen other people eating sundaes, and we want one so badly we can almost taste it. We voted for it last year, and thought we would finally get our sundae.
No one could agree on the three flavors, so a compromise was reached..vanilla ice cream. That promise went away and frozen yogurt was suggested as a compromise.
Frozen yogurt may taste "like" ice cream, but it's not.
There is some doubt about whether there will be any "extras"..certainly the chocolate sauce is out, as is the banana (too expensive). Whipped cream is out of the question. .."There's a war on, dontchaknow" There will be no cherry on top, so don't even ask. The new soda jerks did offer some brown sprinkles.. (they ain't chocolate)..and of course we do get to keep the nuts.. LOTS of NUTS.
Just when we had almost come to accept the "less than" sundae, protesters are suddenly saying "Not even frozen yogurt for YOU...we won't hear of it..and if you even try to tell people they have one coming, we'll shout you down."
Why is "our side" not eager to counter-protest with the same "vigor"?
We are not all THAT excited about a shit-sprinkled bowl of vanilla frozen yogurt, especially when even that will probably end up being a small plastic cup of room temperature spoiled milk.

4. I would be fine with half a loaf... |
|
...but we didn't even get crumbs.
We asked for real healthcare reform. We didn't get reform. Our big gift, is that we are mandated to purchase health insurance, from greedy insurance companies who just paid millions of dollars to squelch reform. And there are no cost controls imposed on these insurance companies.
We asked for a loaf of bread (single payer), we were denied that, so we said we would take half a loaf (public option). We didn't get that, so we hoped for crumbs (at least cost controls or the ability to have choice and get pharmaceuticals from Canada). No crumbs either.
What we got is raw salmonella-infested chicken served on a paper plate. And we're being forced to eat it AND pay for it.

6. Agreed. It would be better to do nothing. |
|
Kill the bill. Forcing people to buy insurance is no more the answer to a failed health care system than forcing people to buy houses is the solution to homelessness.
