So, if you REALLY hate the Democratic party you would think folks would find a good place to hang out to discuss alternatives. Maybe how they are going to put forth efforts for their primary candidate once they find one. Have a common place to just bitch about Obama. Of course on that last thought you could just get a freeper handle and if you didn't stray from that thought pattern you would never get banned :P
It would probably be a good small business if you figured out how to reach out to all these "true liberal far left of Obama but not quite socialist but maybe a little sprinking" folks and coalesce.
I mean seriously, when you do a google search on ( democratic party discussion boards ) DU comes up as the second hit. Results 1 - 10 of about 2,740,000 for democratic party discussion boards. (0.19 seconds)
If you do a search on ( liberal discussion boards ) the first hit is interesting but they really need to change that top graphic on the splash page :rofl:
Just a thought...might as well try to be productive if your going to knock Obama and the Democratic Party down and out! :hi:

against Lieberman, I intend to continue such attempts at getting like minded candidates. And it is personal opinion as to if what someone has to say is of value.

8. Why do people who are criticized claim suppression? |
|
Who is stopping you from having and expressing your opinion. Is not the OP's opinion also something that should not be suppressed? Why is disagreement, even disagreement that might be insulting, infringing any right whatsoever. If you don;t want to be subjected to disagreement are you really sure you want to express your opinion in the first place?

12. Perhaps because of the nature of suggestions like the one in the OP? |
|
I have NEVER when expressing my opinion expressed that any group of people here should consider leaving. NOT ONCE. I have never, NOT ONCE, inferred that they do not have the right to their opinions no matter how strongly I disagree. Every time I have seen it happen of late, it has been tied to those who express a dissenting opinion from current Democratic leadership and, in particular, support of the HCR Bill. They have been called, "immature", "crybaby", and words like "tantrum" and "uninformed" are thrown around in condescending tones. Now, they have moved from that sort of name calling to calls for people to consider leaving DU. So yes, I do consider that an attempt to suppress dissenting opinion. I have seen what amounts to a concerted effort to change people's minds and ridiculing them for not changing them which goes FAR beyond simple disagreement. Now there are calls (subtly framed as humor with smiley faces attached) for them to leave. The mentality goes far beyond simple disagreement and yes, I do believe it to be an effort at suppression.

15. you should read post 3 as well... |
|
of course you can complain and make the party better, that's what Democratic Underground provides...
Now, there are some folks who have bitched about every single thing Obama has done including showing up at a fucking wrestling event and those are the folks I am referring to. You have threads asking for primary candidates to run against him. So saying those folks should go be productive is just a suggestion; because they aren't going to get anything done here.

17. But why is it up to you to make such a suggestion? The very nature of such a suggestion has an.. |
|
ugly stench and sorry, but, in MY opinion, it reeks of the kind of condescension that has been very common amongst certain DU'ers.

Ignoring the porn banner at the top. :)
RW hate radio is well represented on the front page.
The forums start off with: "Yes, The Islam Religion Is Barbaric" and only get worse from there. :eyes:
I think that site is a bait and switch trap.

<snip>
Democratic Underground (DU) was founded on Inauguration Day, January 20, 2001, to protest the illegitimate presidency of George W. Bush and to provide a resource for the exchange and dissemination of liberal and progressive ideas. Since then, DU has become one of the premier left-wing websites on the Internet, publishing original content six days a week, and hosting one of the Web's most active left-wing discussion boards.
We welcome Democrats of all stripes, along with other progressives who will work with us to achieve our shared goals. While the vast majority of our visitors are Democrats, this web site is not affiliated with the Democratic Party, nor do we claim to speak for the party as a whole.
From the rules:
<snip>
2. Who We Are: Democratic Underground is an online community for Democrats and other progressives. Members are expected to be generally supportive of progressive ideals, and to support Democratic candidates for political office. Democratic Underground is not affiliated with the Democratic Party, and comments posted here are not representative of the Democratic Party or its candidates.
The only rule connected to the Democratic Party is that we "support Democratic candidates" while we are on DU. That means that we don't campaign against a Democrat in a general election on DU.
It doesn't mean that we don't criticize the party, or elected Democrats, when they deserve it.
If this is displeasing to you, perhaps you should appeal to the site owners to repudiate the "left-wing" identity of the board.
