Breaking News, FLASH FLASH, OMG, This just in.....
Prince William spends a night on the street of London so he can see how the other 99.9999999999999999999999999% live...

Nothing wrong with the Man Who Would Be King going out to mingle with the Un Washed Masses, but do we need to be updated every 15 minutes or so...

Isn't there something else to yak about...

If this is a publicity stunt as in the Prince not getting his name in the paper and on the telly associated with more nobel causes than lusting after strippers, then shame on him...

If this was a genuine attempt by the Prince to get a feel of what it is like living out on the streets and Windsor Castle "leaked" it to show the Prince in a better light, then shame on his handlers...

Me thinks it's the former rather than the latter since the Queen Mum took a train to her residence in the country side just last weekend just to show she is "just like the rest of us"...

1. Maybe the Royals figured out
what the financiers have not. The French revolution really happened. People really did get their head chopped off.

20. Now if we could send the banksers
to live in cardboard boxes for a few months..one night is not enough.

I tend to agree if its a stunt, shame , if it is a true desire to find our how the homeless live and cope(it aint easy either).
I have been homeless and sick with no where to turn other than a few friends who could put me up for a few days at a time. I have hiv/aids. when I finally got help via landing in ICU I was able to access SSI /Medicaid etc..but first I had to lose job, home, truck (4 payments owing on it out of 14,000) my insurance denied me after collecting premiums for about 7 yrs, and of course all my savings. After that I managed to rent a decent apartment and regain some equilibrium and sort of get on my feet. I met my partner soon after. We went through being next best thing to homeless when his job got sold overseas..2x in about 6 mos.
We get by on much less, its not easy, but we are doing ok even if it is paycheck to paycheck.
There is not enough to actually save anything for the future. Then again where would we keep it not enough to invest.

2. Well, in defense of William
He's patron of a charity that his mom also worked with. It was with that charity that he spent the night roughing it. It was all over the British press this am. I gather it was something he really wanted to do to gain a small understanding of the clients this charity serves (homeless teens especially) but I don't know how he feels about all the hooplah about his big night out.

5. that's the point...
I honestly think the Prince has a sense that he has some responsibility that goes along with his being born into 'privilege", but the press is blowing this way out of proportion.

Honestly, I have had the cable on for less than an hour and have seen this story covered three times....

Sometimes I have to remember that we fought a revolution to throw off a wicked monarchy.

qualified them as a 'wicked monarchy.'

14. Yep, this naiton was begun by White Slaveowners who didn't want to pay their taxes
Sounds somewhat familiar.

I am often amused at the deification of the "founding fathers".

18. Nothing much gets published without royal approval.
I think the lesson he wanted people to get was to be mindful of people who have nothing and are sleeping in alleys on cold nights. They're not trash. One of them might be one of the royals.

Even accompanied by the head of the charity and with goons stationed a discreet distance away, Wills showed amazing guts to remain all night instead of just get the photo op and skedaddle back to his warm bed.

His mama raised him right.

3. Well, the Queen Mum is dead. But William slept on the street.
LONDON - A cold alley in central London is a far cry from a palace - but it was the spot Prince William chose to sleep to highlight the plight of homeless British teenagers.
He spent a chilly night near Blackfriars Bridge last week with Seyi Obakin, the chief executive of British homeless charity Centrepoint. William has been the charity's patron since 2005.
"I cannot, after one night, even begin to imagine what it must be like to sleep rough on London's streets night after night," William said Tuesday. "Poverty, mental illness, drug and alcohol dependancy and family breakdown cause people to become and then stay homeless.
"I hope that by deepening my understanding of the issue, I can help do my bit to help the most vulnerable on our streets."

15. Becaue it is a fine example of what passed for "news"...
Every second spent on subjects such as this is less that is spent explaining to the American people issues.

That, to me at least, is worth pointing out...

well then, post something that is a million times more imporant to the survivial of the world...

22. Us here already know this bullshit that passes for news every day
We just installed a new wood pellet stove and passed our old one down to our son and dil instead of just bitching and moaning. You can be a part of the problem or you can be a part of the solution, I'd like to think I am the latter.
